Once we walked in, I was greeted by first name by the host behind the bar who directed us to follow Lisa, our server, to our table for two in the garden patio. Once seated, she asked if we'd like to turn on the heated lamp, which we appreciated. We ordered the Hunan BBQ Pork Ribs (so meaty and smoky), Chilled Sesame Peanut Noodles (which my wife commented would be an ideal dish during a warm summer night), Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi (served on a toasted, pillowy brioche bun), paired with a side of the Shoestring Fries. Lastly we enjoyed an unexpected gift from the kitchen - Shanghai Triple Onion Noodles, which was a warm dish in contrast to the other cold noodles. As a thoughtful gesture, the bartender, offered us two glasses of champagne to acknowledge our occasion. To cap off our unforgettable meal, we ordered the Hochija Tres Leches and Honeymoon Bread Pudding. The perfect conclusion to a delicious and well-thought out dinner. For a location with a history dating back to the prohibition era (informed by Lisa), I'm glad to see it's continuing it's life as a bar with an innovative kitchen. The manager came over to apologise and offered us to move to another quieter table which we kindly took. They stage kept apologizing to us about the loud crowd. “i have been 4tunate enuf 2 have tried both locations but of course, many more times in HH since its been there 5+ yrs ~ originally i often didnt fill up after their omakase mealz but they have since improved & i dont leave hungry i started visitin HH location cuz an old friemd used 2b da chef there; he has since retired & im happy i got 2 try this new location ~ food is yumz, service is good, place is clean & modern wished there were somethin they can do bout da noisy background ~ its very echoey, thus hard 2 hear wut frenz r sayin (def less noisy @HH location)“

We left happy with happy stomachs. I am excited to report that two years later, HATCH still exceeds my expectations. Happened to be in LA again and remembered the food. I couldn't remember the name, so I searched for it. Found the place, and it's a short walk away. Perfect. Walked in, got a table, and the service was amazing, per usual. The food was fantastic! The owner came over and checked on us, asking how everything was going. We explained how we were so happy to find HATCH again after two years and memories of the wonderful experience. The owner ended up cutting us a deal and said if we ordered one dessert, we'd get another one the house. Both of the desserts were delectable. “Amazing dinner at this lovely outdoor eatery. Ambience was romantic and the heaters at every table were great for not feeling cold in the night air. We had the special “Sunday Supper for 2” which included minestrone soup and a whole grilled branzino. In addition, a bottle of red or white wine accompanied the meal that cost only $59 for 2 people. The soup was thick, slightly peppery and very delicious. The branzino was perfectly cooked, stuffed with lemon, garlic and rosemary and came to the table deboned but whole. We felt that this was a Best Buy for the quality and quantity of the food. The restaurant was not crowded and the lights were dim and the noise level was low, so we totally enjoyed our meal.“

“First time coming here, good food and great service. My mom could be a bit of a Karen but the cashier was so nice, patient and answered all my moms questions. I didn't get his name but he was the cashier with black glasses. The food was very good and he make great recommendations. 10/10 experience The pictures look a bit of a mess but that's cause we tore it up fast. The chicken was crispy and juicy, a lot of fast food places have fatty chicken, not this place. Fries are bomb like mc Donald's minus the grease“

“We stopped by The Mermaid after dinner for a couple of drinks and had a pretty good time! It was super crowded but we were lucky to find a table to sit at. The place was pretty loud but the playlist was great and the atmosphere and crowd was friendly and a lot of fun.With a cute underwater/sea theme, their menu looks like it typically has a lot of rum based drinks but we had to get the special holiday drinks!Out of the specialty drinks we ordered the Sinterclaws, Seven Siren Swimming, Nauti or Nice, Carols of the Coral, A Merry Little "Coquito", and a Dementa Xmas "Shot." Almost all of the drinks were served in festive glassware like a snowman mug, so cute! My favorite drinks had to be Seven Sirens Swimming with the brown butter fat washed Chihuatan Indigo rum, and the "coquito" like a tiny coconutty eggnog.“

We had a rainbow sherbet sour - one of the best sours I've had in a while - and a hazy IPA (MadeWest) that he also said was the best he'd had in a while. We liked them and the vibe so much we stayed for a second.“
