“We were looking for a nice brunch spot, and we came across The Ordinarie. With a 2hr free parking right nearby, we were off to a great start even before arriving at the restaurant. There was no one manning the front, so, we just seated ourselves, and a server approached us soon after. My wife got the Spicy Fried Chicken and Waffles and I indulged on Short Rib Hash. The fried chicken was not so spicy, but it was fried up really well. The crunch from the coating was absolutely crack. And the waffles were made from rye batter that gave it a very unique nutty flavor. The short rib on the hash was melt in your mouth tender and the red wine sauce was deep and flavorful. The crispy onions and fried potatoes paired really nicely with the meat and sauce. Overall, the food was bomb, and I have to give extra points for refilling our drinks without asking. The service was just right; not too much, not too little. All in all, we walked away full and very satisfied. Highly recommended!“

“Keep coming back to this spot, for many reasons. The food, service, ambiance, location, novelty. I've been during the daytime for a latte in the sun, and I've been at night for an incredible dinner service. I would say I prefer the nighttime experience, just because the coffee is pretty over priced, and they haven't nailed the daytime-cafe-vibe yet. Needless to say, they have certainly nailed the nighttime vibe. Wonderful small plates, super yummy pizzas, creative and beautiful dishes. Recently, my group of four and I shared a pizza and a few small dishes as well as entrees. Out of all of the dishes, my Alaskan halibut was agreed upon as the best, which was surprising! The creamed leeks beneath the fish were unlike anything I've ever had. We also REALLY enjoyed the snap pea salad. Such unique flavor combinations! The burnt basque cheesecake and marscapone gelato were wonderful treats to end our meal. I will continue to come back!“

“Rosemallows is definitely a vibe and I'm so happy I came across it!While hubby and I were wrapping up an event, we wanted to grab a drink. We came across Rosemallows in Long Beach. The name really intrigued me and the photos on their website and on Yelp lured us in. While walking up to enter, we heard music bumping and people dancing. I was a bit confused because it honestly was giving me club vibes. But we walked in and people were just living their best lives dancing along to the best of the music. I was for it! Hubby and I made our way to the bar and parked ourselves there. They had drink specials going on so I started off with a basic tequila pineapple. After I chugged that down, I decided to get fancy with it. I ordered a Melona Colada. Let me tell you, it was soooooo delicious!! It was just perfection in a glass.Rosemallows is a restaurant, however, on Sunday evenings they have Sunday Sessions. No food is served during this time and it's just good music playing, good drinks being sipped, and just good vibes flowing around. I was all for it. The staff was super friendly and accommodating.Hubby and I are already planning our next visit.“

“100% recommend! It was such an incredible dining experience. Our family made reservations to spend Mother's Day lunch here and we were given a private room downstairs. The restaurant is beautiful and elegant. There's also a valet parking option so you don't have to deal with the hassle of downtown Long Beach parking. There was a preset menu and every dish was absolutely delicious and full of flavor. Our waiter was so attentive. Everyone had such an amazing time, especially knowing that dining out on a holiday weekend such as Mother's Day tends to bring on stress and subpar service. This definitely was not the case. The lamb chops were so good, the meatballs were tender and moist. they also accommodated a children's menu option by offering plain pasta with a red sauce on the side and grilled chicken. The kids loved it. An additional treat was an assortment of desserts that we were able to choose from at the end of our meal. Thank you for an amazing experience!“

The Wrigley Tavern Bar • $
Wrigley Village, 2054 Pacific Ave, Long Beach

“I've been here a bunch, just realized I've still never written them a review, so fixing that finally. They are definitely a "neighborhood bar" first, cocktail bar second - it's a great chill vibe, the sort of place that's never too busy (at least when I've been there) and where the music is never too loud to be able to talk. Their bartenders are all great, and they have quality spirits and reasonably priced drinks. And they do *have* a cocktail list - but compared to, for instance, Wicked Wolf nearby, for similar prices, cocktails that aren't quite as complex or as exciting, necessarily, but they have all been great cocktails. I also particularly like that they have, at least at the moment, Buffalo Trace on hand, so I can put that in any whiskey cocktail for about the same price. On their current menu, I particularly liked the "Cameoi" (bourbon, basil, lemon, blueberry, hibiscus cider) and the "Conquistador" (corn vodka, frangelico, romepope custard liqueur - as-is, it's basically a drinkable dessert, which is great if you're looking for dessert, but it's also an easy drink to swap different spirits in - I've also tried off-menu versions with mezcal and with Buffalo Trace that were also great.) I have only actually gotten food here once, and it was a couple years ago - their flatbread was nothing I'd go out of my way for specifically, but it's definitely also something I'd be happy to order if I were hungry and I was here. That said, the *real* draw that keeps getting me to stop in here, is the live jazz they have every Saturday at 8 PM. The jazz trio that plays here is fantastic, so whenever I'm out that direction on Saturday in the evening (most likely because something's going on at Wicked Wolf), I also try to arrange to pop in here during the live jazz. Cocktails go great with live jazz, and they're a super talented jazz trio. (But it wouldn't be such a draw if they didn't *also* make great cocktails.)“

When busy, there is a huge line to order. Not the best. I was sipping in my drink while boyfriend waited in line. I was finished with one before he brought out our second round. “We have been to Gaslamp about five times now to see our favorite Rage Against the Machine tribute band, Renegades of Rage. They never disappoint. This time there were two other tribute bands opening for them. Tribute band for Nirvana, Nirvanish was better than I remember from seeing them once before. The lead singer must have been a trance medium. Because all I seen and heard was Kurt Cobain. They also sang a Filter song, Hey Man, Nice Shot, that is in my favorites playlist. The owner of Gaslamp came out on stage to preform in a tribute band for Smashing Pumpkins called The Great Pumpkin! What an extremely pleasant surprise! We've watched them before and I don't remember being this impressed. We sounded so much like Billy Corrigan! Their drummer flew in from I'm not sure where but I'm sure glad that he did. Awesome drummer! Renegades! We love you guys! Johnny, Diego, Jeff and Mike...I'll never get tired of hearing you guys and watching your shows. If I can't get RATM, I'll take Renegades any day, any time, always! We were there with our son and daughter in law celebrating my hubby's 51st bday. The band made him feel special by giving a shout out for his bday! If you haven't seen Renegades before, I can't stress enough that you should find their next show and watch out for the mosh pit! We did not eat here, but Renegades lead singer Johnny did recommend them. Hubby wanted Tamales from Angie's in Norwalk instead. The drinks are comparably priced. Good wait staff. Bathrooms were clean and we'll stocked when we got there. The dance floor was not sticky, just a pet peeve for me.“
