A brief passing glimpse of a “Jawns” sign glowing in the night led us to this joint. We ordered the moment they opened the next day. My husband is from Philly and we lived there for years. We have tried pretty much every “touted” cheesesteak in Portland with varying levels of disappointment. Until now. THIS IS IT. I’ve been such a fan of Papi Sals, or John’s Jawns since they first opened-and the quality of the food has only become more mouth watering and the smiles from the folks behind the counter have only gotten bigger!Jess and John are crushing it and if you’re not smashing hoagies from this spot, you’re missing out.

Ok, so it’s a bit far from my house. As an *extremely* picky eater I was worried about not being able to mod my sandwich but I went with it. NO MODS NEEDED. Like there’s a reason they don’t do it.
