Horrible experience x 2!!! My husband and I have been loyal customers here since July. In early Oct, we ordered our regular beverages, but my coffee tasted really weird so I tried to return it after taking one sip. The person behind the counter told me that I asked for 2 bags of sugar in my coffee and I contested stating that I never drink sugar in my coffee. He literally looked right at me and said, 'that is what you asked for'. So essentially called me a liar to my face. I asked for a replacement coffee and he said I had to pay for it. I contested. Eventually the other person behind the counter gave me another coffee sans sugar. A few weeks later we went back in and I asked for a manager. I spoke with Nick who said he was the owners partner. Explained what had happened, he apologized and gave me a card for one free coffee. Today, when we went in to order, I pulled out the card Nick had given me. Nick himself looked right at me and said 'sorry, you can't use that, the owner said he has already taken care of you and given you a free coffee'. I disagreed stating that the owner has no idea who I am or what I look like and that I had not been back since he gave me the free coffee card. Nick said 'sorry, that's what the owner said.' I have never been treated so poorly by a restaurant or any other public establishment. This is my first time to write a poor review for any place I frequent and actually really like. The level of gaslighting that I have experienced from this place is confusing and absurd. All for a mere cup of drip coffee. This situation is not about a coffee or how much it costs, it's about horrible customer service and mistreatment by being called a liar on two different occasions. Despite my loving the coffee, pastries, and ambiance of this place, I will never step foot in it again. As a woman of color, I have to wonder if this is discrimination or if this is just plain and simple mistreatment of customers to save a $1. Either way, the experience has been distasteful and disheartening. I hope they don't treat anyone else as terribly as they treated me.
