Really great steaks and service. Everything was excellent. Had the lamb tartare, milk bread, salad, bison tenderloin and local striploin. Would highly recommend each of them. Also had the Sunday and Banana & Seabuckthorn desert which we really enjoyed because it was a bit weird and different!

We booked our reservation here for valentines dinner, we had heard it was expensive but wanted to come here for a special night because we heard the food was very good.
After being seated we weren’t walked through the menu at all, our waiter very quickly mentioned that there was a special wine person that serves it by the glass but no other information and the person never came by. We had said we would maybe have a glass later with dinner but he took the wine glasses and never gave us any information on the wine by the glass.
We ordered other drinks off the menu which came about 30 minutes after sitting down. Our waiter rarely came by after this and seemed very inconvenienced when we asked to place our food order, and when we tried to order more drinks later.
The other waiters around seemed to provide very good experience for customers and we saw them providing a lot of recommendations, checking in how the food was and generally making sure the customers were satisfied. Our waiter never checked on the food or how we enjoyed things. When we finally asked for the bill, he tossed it on the table, said hope you enjoyed it and walked away. It took another 10 minutes before we flagged down the host who took us to our table to ask for the machine to pay.
Was a very disappointing experience. For a bill of $400 you would think there would be some service/experience included in the price. Overall the food was decent but not worth the price when you are treated like a burden by the staff.

Was really looking forward to dining here as it is a renowned restaurant in Banff at the best hotel here. We had an 8:45 reservation and got there at that time but had to wait in line to get seated, we weren’t seated till about 9 pm. Our waitress was very nice and can’t complain about the service. However, every single thing we ordered was the most underwhelming bite we have ever had. We started off with the scallop crudo and the cheese platter. The scallops had no flavor and tasted like they were just taken out of a bucket of ice, we really did not like them. The cheese was just a simple soft cheese dish with tomatoes, nothing special and they didn’t even bring bread for us to have with it. We ordered the ribeye as our main — high expectations here for an expensive steakhouse. We got the steak medium rare as recommended, but it was flavorless and not tender at all. The quality did not seem great. For dessert, we ordered a banana ganache dessert that once again was extremely underwhelming and not at all what we expected based on the menu description. Maybe if the restaurant was less expensive we wouldn’t have been so upset with our experience. Just really was not worth the price. Save your money and time :)

1888 restaurant food was excellent, the milk buns were the best buns I ever ate, fresh out of the oven!! I had the duck as my main course and added mashed potatoes as an add on. It was perfect!! I will definitely be back!! Ended my meal with the sundae, not too sweet and every was just right!!

What a fantastic experience of the 1888 chophouse. Our server, Luke was absolutely amazing. We really enjoyed our food. Every single plate that hit our table was perfect. Right down to the seasoning. We really appreciated that the chef came out at the end.

We were here last in 2018, and just like our previous experience, the service is still exceptional. I truly enjoy dining here and appreciate how the staff has made the celebration of milestones in our lives so special. A big thank you to Alicia for last night and to Chris in 2018. If there's one small thing I'd mention, it's that I personally prefer the traditional candlelight on the table. Last time our group was booked in a small room, so there wasn't a candle, which is understandable. However, in the main dining area last night, I would prefer a candle over the rechargeable lamp. I'm a bit old-fashioned that way, but it would make the experience feel even more special - for me, anyway 😊
The meal we had was outstanding we did the 32oz porterhouse to share it was absolutely amazing taste and quality. The ambiance was very nice, fancier. Our service was great the server did a great job explaining the menu to us and also suggestions. They did a great job at accommodating my gluten allergy.
There were four of us, we had Wagyu New York strips, the duck and beef cheeks. It was literally one of the most delicious meals I’ve ever had in a restaurant. I would highly recommend this spot. It is a little expensive but we knew that going in and we had a great time. James was our server. He was awesome.

The overall service was very poor. Maybe it was our particular server. Our food was cold, and the quality was not what you would expect from a high end restaurant. Save your money and go some where else in Banff for a more overall quality and service experience.
This seriously was probably the best meal I've ever had in a restaurant. We (4 of us) had wagyu new york steaks, the duck, and beef cheeks. They were all delicious. James was our waiter, he was great. I would HIGHLY recommend eating here.
