1888 is a definite treat! We were taken care of by Morgan for our 10th anniversary celebration and his service and recommendations were exceptional. We splurged on the Alberta wagyu and it was the stuff dreams are made of. Cooked perfectly! The bison and asparagus were also wonderful, well-paired with wines from the extensive wine list. Save your pennies and tuck into a cozy table at 1888 to celebrate your next special occasion - you won't be disappointed!

The food and service were incredible. We were wanting an excellent experience and steak, and that's what we got. 10/10 recommend!

I did not have a good experience here. The service was very slow towards the end of evening when the restaurant was not very crowded. I also had a mix up with the bill. The restaurant is located in the Fairmont Banff Springs and I was guest at the hotel. I billed the tab to my room like I had done at other restaurants at the hotel and went to another establishment at the hotel. The waiter from the 1888 Chophouse hunted me down and demanded that I pay the tab by credit card at the bar because I did not have a credit card on file at the hotel. I went down to the front desk, and they said I did have a card on file and that it was the restaurant's issue. I still have not gotten an explanation for why that happened.

Wonderful experience! Best steak I have ever eaten. Great wine selection. We went with our infant who they catered to well. Cory was wonderful and had great recommendations.

Everything was amazing. Our server was extremely helpful in picking wines and answering questions about Tuscan varietals. He even offered to let us try one particular wine to compare to what we were drinking. Food was great and cooked to perfection and everything was perfect with the order. I am very pleased.

We had an amazing dinner and the host was wonderful and sat us at nice table with a view like I had requested. Our server was very knowledgeable and did a great job with recommendations. I loved the light up menus. I had the duck which was amazing. Would definitely dine here again.

Although our dinner was lively we were shocked to see that what was presented as “house Chardonnay” was $50 and $60 dollars a glass. We feel that was quite excessive without being told what the price was and presents as “house Chardonnay.” We have had wonderful meals in many countries and never paid this much for a house wine.

The food was unique and incredible. The bison tenderloin was next level! My only constructive criticism would be that your backlit menus were unnecessary...they are an innovative idea but they were glitching and flashing and consequently, I couldn't read them because this could have triggered a migraine for me

The dinner was very good, we ordered the bread ( at the Chateau in LL it comes as standard) and it was excellent but very messy so our table was covered in crumbs. We've eaten at top restaurants around the world and they clean the table inbetween courses but sadly not here. Next course arrived and plate put on the crumbs. We had scallop crudo and also king crab followed by the tenderloin, it was superb. The sparkling Canadian wine and the glasses of the Syrah were excellent. An enjoyable evening with good food.

Open Table pricing was very misleading at time of booking it stated ££ with a cost of $30 can, its actual cost is a minimum of $100 per person. I have complained so hopefully this will be rectified. The steaks we had were good but priced at $84 plus extra if you wanted sauce or vegetables. Restaurant and staff were great, be warned this is a very very expensive night out.

Located in the spectacular Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel in the Canadian Rockies, The 1888 Chop House is an sophisticated take on the classic steak house. The decor is woody and rich, with nicely spaced tables covered with fine linens. Service was smooth and beautifully paced. Our server, Cody, was a real pro and took very good care of us. I was anxious to pair a Canadian wine with dinner, and Cody helped select a fine Canadian Bordeaux blend from the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia. The wine was a perfect match for our ribeye steak, sourced from prime Alberta beef. It initially came out a little too rare for our taste, but Cody quickly had the kitchen add a bit of heat, and it was fabulous. We had house rolls and the foie gras parfait for starters, and sides of whipped potatoes and glazed carrots. We finished if off with a chocolate grenache for dessert. Everything was excellent; the kitchen nicely balances classic chop house cooking with a bit of inventive flair. The only slightly sour note to the evening was the background music, which was some sort of odd, discordant synth beat, which was a little too loud and seemed out of place for the elegant atmosphere of the restaurant. Still, 1888 gets our highest recommendation.

We had a delicious meal and great service. Loved being greeted with a champagne cart. Server was knowledgeable and very attentive. Our steaks were the best we had on our whole trip. Sides were generous and well prepared. The entire dining experience here was a joy

I cannot get over this place! Their ambiance stands out, and the food and drinks take it to a whole new level. We ordered Alberta premium ribeye which is perfect and Braised Beef Cheek that my fiance really loves! The staff was attentive and friendly the whole time. It was supposed to be a simple dinner but it became the best memory we have when my partner propose and thank you to the whole 1888 team for their help to make it happen!
