My partner and I go to Banff every year and come to Sushi House first thing every time. This spot is out favourite sushi place ever. The selection of nigiris and rolls are so good, not to mention the delicious Crème Brulee! The only critique I would add is there’s just a small inconsistency with the nigiris. We had had nigiris with and without wasabi in between the fish and rice in separate visits. My partner is not a huge fan of wasabi. It’s not worth to take away a star since we love this place so much, but we hope this would be more consistent in the future! :)

This restaurant has actually been around for quite a while, but we only discovered it recently when our sushi cravings kicked in—better late than never!
We went on a Sunday afternoon around 12:30 p.m. and were lucky to get seats right away. The place was already busy, and the only available spots were three together and one single seat between a couple. The waiter kindly asked the couple if they’d mind sliding over so we could sit together, and they graciously agreed. We really appreciated both the staff’s effort and the couple’s kindness—we made sure to thank them. That moment set a positive tone for the whole experience. Honestly, if we were in their shoes, we’d be happy to do the same.
Now onto the food—there was a great selection of sushi and rolls. Everyone at our table picked their own favourites, and everything we tried was fresh and flavorful. The sushi chef, positioned right in the middle of the bar, was impressively fast and consistent. He was making roll after roll like a machine, yet the quality and taste didn’t suffer at all.
The rolls were delicious—nicely balanced, well-prepared, and not overly rice-heavy. The presentation wasn’t flashy, but given how fast the sushi was coming out, we weren’t expecting fine art. We came for flavour and freshness, and they definitely delivered. Portions were reasonable, not oversized, but filling. Price-wise, it’s a little on the higher side, but honestly, that’s pretty standard in 2025 for fresh, high-quality sushi.
The crème brûlée was my preferred dessert. It was set to a firm consistency, which was precisely what I desired.
Overall, a very satisfying visit. Great service, good atmosphere, and solid sushi. We’ll definitely be back.

Maybe the sushi here is good, I wanted to try it, but my 5-year-old son loves pizza and we decided to buy it at a neighboring restaurant, and my wife and I tried this outstanding sushi, but they forbade our son from trying his favorite dish at this restaurant, unfortunately, this outraged me.

Real sushi fan (and picky) so scoured the reviews and found this tiny gem downtown ! Cosy decor gives an authentic feel - as if I were in Japan. The lady sushi chef was charming and she even gave me an extra piece of maguro (usually two pieces per serve, she gave us three) after I made my orders in broken Japanese 😅. The sushi is prepared in front of you, the rice is still warm and hand rolled (not from a mould), the hamachi/ scallop/ octopus are tasty as if from home (they said sourced from Japan), salmon is not sockeye but still tasty, red tuna came from a sealed pack. The rolls are perfectly pressed, not too hard. We ate around 14 items and were really full, altogether under 120$. That’s cheaper than the other restaurants we have tried in Banff. Will come again after brushing up on my Japanese !! Also many varieties comparable to any sushi shops back home.

Was a good restaurant but a bit small inside is you are with young children on a stroller or if you need wheelchair access. Overall was a good night but music was a bit loud and just a bit harder to chat with family.

A conveyor belt sushi restaurant with the chef in the middle preparing sushi and diners sits around the mini train track table. The sushi was moved around with model railway trains. I even found a Canadian Rockies model cargo shipper. Sushi, desserts, appetizers available.

We were welcomed into a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Hoshino escorted us to our seats with great professionalism—she was very kind, polite, and attentive, and made us feel completely comfortable.
My mother was visiting Canada from Japan and had started to miss Japanese food and people. When we visited this restaurant, that feeling disappeared. Yuka, who took our order and also prepared our food (she seemed to do everything—sushi chef, server, and more!), was incredibly friendly. Her smile and positive energy made my mom feel truly at home. It really made her happy and safe to be there. Thank you so much for the fantastic experience💛
I highly recommend this cozy restaurant not just for its delicious sushi, but also for the warm hospitality. All the staff were absolutely wonderful!
