We visited in the morning and later made a reservation for the evening with a specific table request for our special night. When we arrived, our request wasn’t honored, and the host (who said he owns the restaurant) told us they don’t take bookings, which was confusing since we had already reserved earlier. His attitude changed during the conversation, and we felt judged. If they couldn’t accommodate our request, it should have been clearly communicated from the beginning. Unfortunately, the experience wasted our time.

If you’re craving authentic Louisiana cuisine in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, Tooloulou’s absolutely delivers! As a native New Orleanian, I know true Cajun and Creole flavors, and I was genuinely impressed. The food was rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, capturing the soul of Louisiana cooking in every bite.

Beyond the incredible dishes, the atmosphere was warm, lively, and inviting. The hospitality from the wait staff truly stood out; they were attentive, friendly, and made us feel right at home.

I highly recommend Tooloulou’s to anyone looking for an unforgettable meal in Banff. Five stars all the way!

I really enjoy this place.
We had the shrimp and grits, and the steamer bucket with an add on of crab.
We also had the ditch chicken (frog legs) to start...
Everything was amazing, the service was also very good!

One of the most unique foods I ate in Banff/Calgary. I love the Gumbo. And happy hour makes this very affordable for families.

A good breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant in the heart of Banff. The breakfast is very good, tasty and large portions. You need to ask about the meat if you interested in halal options (not sure the meat is). There are however other options for breakfast. The banana bread French toast is definitely recommended and their locally-made coffee (made from coffee bean from South America I think). I recommend using open table or calling in to make a reservation as it tends to be very busy. The staff are also very nice.

Seafood boil in nothing but water. Grim, waste of money. Cocktails were even lame.

One of the servers kept running into me, cutting the corner and kept making heavy breathing grunting noises.

Atmos was ordinary.

Seafood boil has been on my food bucket list for a while, so when I saw that it was on the menu at Touloulous, where they specialize in authentic Creole cuisine, I thought it would be the perfect spot! The atmosphere and service were great, but the dish wasn’t quite what I had expected: there was no sauce! Other than melted butter served on the side, the dish had no sauce at all, as you can see in the photo. I’m talking classic seafood boil sauce with butter, garlic, onions, Cajun seasoning, Old Bay seasoning, in a chicken stock base. While the food was still good, without the sauce it was a bit dry, which was disappointing at $50 a person. I’m sure their other dishes on the menu are great, but this particular dish wasn’t the best.

We chose this breakfast spot based on a strong recommendation from a friend, but unfortunately our experience was extremely disappointing.

From the start, our server seemed rushed, unfriendly, and disengaged—giving the impression that she either disliked her job or simply did not want to serve our table. After taking our drink order, our water glasses sat empty for quite some time with no offer for refills, and empty water carafes were left cluttering our table.

When the food arrived, two of us ordered the chocolate chip waffles, which were completely soggy and overwhelmed with excessive chocolate sauce and whipped cream. It took a long time for our server to return, and when she finally did, she was already walking away before we had the chance to comment on our meals.

When she came back to clear the plates, we finally voiced our concerns. Instead of listening, she walked away mid-conversation and became defensive, saying, “Why didn’t you say anything? I checked in on you guys multiple times,” which simply was not true. At no point was there any apology or offer to correct the issues with our meals or service.

We came in with high expectations and left feeling unheard and frustrated. Good food matters, but respectful, attentive service is just as important—and unfortunately, this experience fell short on both.

Tooloulous is a great place for breakfast and lunch.

The portions are HUGE. And I mean HUGE. We had plates with potatoes, Eggs, meat, Sausage and a BIG pancake.

It was sooooo good. I would definitely come again here. If you need it a little spicy you can choose between a lot of Hot Sauce
