During our stay at the Banff Springs we ate here twice. I have Celiac and both times we went here the staff was helpful and knowledgeable about my needs. The night we arrived (in the late evening without another reservation) we ate in the pub. Had the braised short rib - was amazing!Later in our stay we ate in the upstairs restaurant - terrace section. I had the GF Schnitzel and it was so good. My husband had the regular schnitzel with Jaeger sauce and loved it. His pro tip: dip the pretzel in the Jaeger sauce.We skipped the cheese fondue but had the chocolate fondue - amazing.*cross posted to find me GF with more GF details.Dietary restrictions: Good GF options, can do the entire 3 course experience GF.
Dear management,For many years, my family and I come to Waldhaus - it’s become our tradition and the highlight of our stay in the mountains and there is many of them every year. It was very disappointing upon our last visit that the updated menu is missing many of our favourites: pubchos, spätzle, german sausages, wings etc. Many of these were a perfect match for the German-styled Waldhaus. Wonderful spot in Banff. A couple of friends and myself popped over for dinner and were greeted by the kind staff member Shawayne. Then served by the wonderful Shri. The food was phenomenal in flavour. Our only comment was we had two people order the schnitzel and one was quite larger than the other. Beef short rib was amazing highly recommend!

Restaurant is behind the hotel down some wooden paths. We made reservations for 6pm and had a seat with a nice view of the river. Service was excellent and the food was great. We started with Haus Bread and it was fresh out of the oven with plenty of butter. My husband got the beef short rib and it was soft and flavourful and we got a side of cabbage to share. I got the beef filet and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. We finished off our dinner with japanese orange sorbet which was light and refreshing. Overall a nice experience. We were able to ask for a shuttle to drive us back to the parkade where we parked instead of walking back up the steps in the dark.

We were here during the winter so not able to enjoy the views. Still we found the restaurant very pleasant. The decor was little over the top but fun. During the winter some roads are closed so it can be tricky to find. Staff were friendly and excellent. The cheese fondue could have been a little thicker. We found the wine in the photo excellent for the price.

What a great restaurant! We went here for dinner while staying at the Banff Springs Fairmont. The fondue appetizer was great. I loved the Semolina Dumplings and my boyfriend enjoyed the filet. The dessert fondue was awesome! The view from our table was as good as it gets and the ambience was relaxed yet also felt upscale at the same time. Definitely give this restaurant a try if you're in the area!
