Good coffee, great pastries! One of the best, most consistent croissants in town!

Such a cute aesthetic place to go by definitely could’ve gotten better treatment by the cashier, but it’s still good. Quick surveys and really good place to go. See that take a coffee and just talk. The croissants that I got tasted amazing. The coffee was really good as well. Definitely recommend going by if you’re visiting Calgary.

Their double baked almond croissant is a must try! If you love strong coffee, try their flat white. Overall, it’s a cute bakery with delicious pastries

staff was friendly and the atmosphere's nice, but the chocolate croissant I received was seriously lacking in chocolate. Ideally, you should get chocolate in every bite- 2/3rds of it was just somewhat salty croissant. Which admittedly did go very well with the bites that had chocolate, but on their own, it's just a letdown.

First time coming in here ,
We stayed in and ordered an iced matcha , blue lemonade (tastes exactly like normal lemonade), black sesame croissant and lemon loaf.
The croissant was tasty and had a decent amount of sesame cream filling. The lemon loaf was soft and moist.
We had ordered an extra pastry to go but then thought it was forgotten when I ordered so I went to order again later , but when I checked the amount paid it seems that they did charge for it - when we went to the counter to ask they just said no we didn’t and didn’t search up or check for a receipt.

From their humble beginnings, every time I come here I am impressed greatly with their ability to connect taste, smell, texture and personality! This is by far one of Calgary’s most hidden treasures that must be discovered

In August 2025, I decided to go on a bakery discovery. There were so many bakeries I hadn't tried, let alone heard of. Butter Block was on the list and one of the first places I tried. OMG. My wife had been searching for a good cheese danish pastry for a very long time and well, we finally found it - the mixed berry cheesecake danish. I also tried the chocolate banana bread pudding. Yum. The baker said the cheesecake danish is going away for a while for new seasonal treats. I hope it comes back soon. Meanwhile, time to try the cinnamon buns. What a find!
We need to nominate this bakery for noble peace prize… the Pandan Cococnut Bread Pudding transcends beauty, texture , taste … not too sweet , not too dry, not too creamy. Only available on weekends, the beautiful humans at the Butter Block have created a new purpose for life! Thank you 🙏
