Honestly haven’t been to earls in a while, we figured we’d drop in for a bite considering we were in the area. We’ve always loved earls in the past but will think twice after this experience. The overall service was not great, we were seated for 3 but only brought two menus and we were not greeted at our table for at least 15 mins. The food prices have raised quite a bit as well on the overall menu and considering the quality of the food we received, we were not happy about the price paid. We did debate leaving and going to another restaurant for steaks comparing the two prices between the restaurants and safe to say we made the mistake to stay. Our server didn’t check on us for a while and we actually had our drinks almost completely finished before a server check was done and food was brought.
On to the food, we order the steak and fries, steak with truffle butter and the queen bee pizza. Our steaks were cooked to the desired temperature but they were very bland steaks and also one was a bit chewy, ( 4oz frites ) the Sauteed mushrooms and mash were kind of boring for what they were. Our friend who order the queen bee let us know her pizza was not even spicy at all, we tried it ourselves and it was not good. Paid over $75 for a 12oz steak when there’s other restaurants in Calgary that give you a 14oz steak for $50 that you’ll dream about.
Overall the restaurant vibe was good, the food prices are a bit overpriced imo compared to the old earls, it’s expensive for what it is and some items on the menu were EXPENSIVE for the portion size that was gonna be provided. Service at this location was not great for us, the food as well alright but we might as well eat it if we’re paying more than $40 a dish each. Better off checking out another restaurant for more reasonable prices and higher quality food. Bad experience with earls, it was amazing before.

I had my birthday dinner at earls Shepard Flats last night and had a great experience. When I first arrived I noticed a card on the table. It was a birthday card personally signed by the team there. Our server was awesome. So attentive and personable. The food was fabulous (as always) and to top off the night they brought out a small dessert that was complementary. If you are looking to go celebrate a milestone or anything for that matter earls Shepard Flats has my business.
Our server was Adam R, super nice guy. Very attentive. He said he was new at serving but he did a great job. I wouldn't have noticed if he didn't mention it. Food is always good! My fav is the hunan kung pao with tofu. The dining room was a bit hot but not their fault. Maybe keep the blinds down when the sun is blasting.
