Always a joy to dine at a culinary school, and Highwood did no disappoint! We were seated (after a bit of a challenge locating it on the campus; more signage would be good!) in a quiet corner of the very attractive and welcoming dining room. The cocktails and wine choices were excellent; our entrees of rack of lamb and duck done 2 ways were cooked perfectly. The focaccia could have had much less oil; the center was still a teeny bit doughy. Dessert was light and tasty. Overall a delightful experience for all 3 of us, with very charming service!
The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and the atmosphere was cozy. The service team was attentive and thoughtful. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff for your warm hospitality and for making our friend's birthday celebration extra special with a delightful dessert surprise.
Friendly and attentive service. Nice choice of appetizers; the artichoke dip was very tasty, whereas the calamari were not fried well enough. Entrees: excellent salmon on a innovative veggie/bean bed. Duck 2 ways is recommendable.
A great place for family dining, with reasonable prices and friendly service. This is a student training facility, and the students do their very best to accommodate your dining experience A+
Visited with family. The wait staff was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. We had members of our party with allergens and the staff was very thorough and attentive to detail. Excellent experience.
Food was beyond amazing. Value was incredible. The service was very friendly but I didn't rate it high because communication skills were low and everyone seemed very confused. I know they are there to learn and I'm sure with time they will improve a lot:)
From the time we were seated to the time we departed we were treated like royalty. We celebrated our Anniversary at this venue and we were not disappointed. Diners need to remember that this is a student teaching locale and kindness goes a long way. Definitely would go back for different dishes. My husband said the lamb was the best he's had in a long time. And don't even get me started on the fresh bread and butter.
Food is always exceptional at the Highwood. As this is a teaching facility, I try to point out any concerns to the instructor who is presiding over the students so any concerns, issues and highlights can be addressed with these students so when they are in the service industry they do well. This is NOT a slight to the new students especially when they start each 3-week cycle of their hospitality education process. As it was their very first shift they were very nervous and the assistance shared with them or their instructor will improve them when they get out in this new world they may decide to pursue. Also being their first shift, they do forget everything they are taught so our patience as clients is much appreciated. Any concerns as a client needs to be brought the presiding instructor so during the after service wind down, their debrief improves their service with every shift they continue during each 3-week cycle rotating through each aspect of their hospitality program. As a regular client to the Highwood, I often bring out-of-town guests to the Highwood and they are always impressed. In fact my fellow friends and I enjoyed lunch AND supper on Friday May 16. Knowing it was the servers very first shift, it was important to help them improve over their continued three weeks of serving their clients. I highly recommend you bring your friends there and find out as soon as possible from your server if it is day 1 or day 15 of their 3-week program. If you are fortunate and you attend their day 15, you can expect superb service. Thank you SAIT instructor as you guide each and every group through the program. I LOVE dining at the Highwood.
We always enjoy The Highwood. Today's Asian chicken salad wasn't the best dish we've had there. Had to ask for dressing and the flavors of that and the glazed meat just were not good. Disappointing. However the flat white espresso drinks and wine selection and black tea offered were excellent. And as always the staff were attentive and earnest.
I took my daughter to dinner before he ballet. She's 10 years old, but very interested in trying new things so she was quite excited for this outing. We decided to try a few appetizers. We were a little pressed for time, and we were asked to order right away, which was totally fine. We did quickly inquire if there were any specials and were glad we did because there was a table side flambe shrimp dish. This was fun to watch and quite tasty. My daughter's second favorite dish. We also ordered the beef tartare, calamari, fingerling potatoes, and charred seasonal veg. The calamari was good, nothing mind-blowing but food. The fingerling potatoes were the same. The beef tartare was borderline inedible. I tried to eat as much as I could and my daughter left all of hers on her plate. There was absolutely no taste at all to the dish. The only part with any flavor was if you added a sliced radish from the garnish. I was extremely disappointed, we didn't really have a chance to offer this feedback. The vegetables were the star of the show. I will definitely order them again next time. We received a complimentary dessert plate to go which had lovely treats! Great value, some improvements to seasoning and checking in with diners would be my recommendation. That being said, we'll be back one day:)

Excellent food but the calamari could have tasted better. Waitress was very polite and hospitable.
The ambiance is nice, food presentation is awesome and service is great. Love the hospitality and food.
We've been coming here for years. Gourmet food at a good price while helping the community of students.
Had a fantastic lunch at The Highwood at SAIT—great food, friendly service, and such a cool way to support student learning. The experience is always top-notch.
One of the best meals you will ever eat at a price much lower than most fine dining. Good service as well
