It's remarkable how good the food is at this live classroom fine-dining restaurant. The menu has a wide range of selections to see the skills the students are learning shine through. An experience you have to try at least once!
The Highwood is a fantastic culinary classroom, that provides a gastromé platform for SAIT students of differing food and beverage disciplines, to practice their craft. Firstly, the food is THAT good. The mentorship is THAT good. If you want to experience a well thought out palette of offerings, and on a budget, I highly recommend you make a reservation. I'm a proud faculty member that loves to introduce as many, to this "hidden gem" of SAIT.
What a fun experience ! We loved the opportunity to be served by students who really showed their passion and dedication to their studies! We arrived for happy hour and enjoyed a relaxing slow paced appetizer, dinner and drinks experience.
We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food quality and presentation were exceptional. The service was good, very good considering these are all students. The value is undeniable. We've paid more for much worse at “professional “ establishments. Well done SAIT !
Waste of money took my burger back and wedge's because there cold then don't have change go somewhere else off campus garbage never again
Nice food & drink options along with attentive service. It's a great concept - SAIT culinary students preparing the food and providing service, while practicing their kitchen service skills. My party of four enjoyed a lovely evening.
Our entrees were late coming. We booked 11:30 -1 pm and only received the entrees at 12:30. It was almost a 1/2 hour between appetizers and the entrees. 3 of us had the soup and it was luke warm. Not even medium hot. The server did suggest to return it, but we didn't have the time to do that. Kitchen seemed to be slow. We were the only table until at least 12:15. Two of us had stead and fries and one order medium well and it was rare. I ordered medium rare and got rare. Cutting the steak allowed the juices to leave the steak and they were tough. We asked for a jug of water at the table and were told no that the server would continue to replenish but had to ask for replenish.
Love this place so much! The food is always excellent and most of the time seasoned and cooked to perfection. Due to the chefs being students there may be a few bumps on the service, but never anything major. Tried the specials: "deconstructed surf and turf" with braised beef and scallops as well as Squid Ink Parpadelle with shrimp in a tomato sauce. Amazing service and happy hour between 4:30 to 6:00 is phenomenal!
The service was great. Our server really put in her best efforts in giving out the right amount of attention and making sure everything was ok. Kudos to her! Now onto the food....there were not much appetizers on the menu to choose from but that's not a big deal. We ordered the artichoke dip and it was good. I ordered the Duck Two Way as the entree. To be absolutely honest, it was only ok but not great. The duck breast was too raw for my liking but I understand that's a personal preference. The duck leg confit was not a full leg and it was kind of tasteless. I suspected that it was not seasoned. The sauce was way too sweet. Again, perhaps it's a personal preference. The dessert was great though. All in all, the service was excellent. The students did better in desserts than in other dishes. We had a fantastic time. Thanks Highwood.

Kudos to the students and instructors! I had the seafood pot pie and it was amazing! My guest had the salad which was absolutely beautiful. Our student server learned how to do an Affogato, which was a lot of fun and the bartender crushed a fantastic Negroni out for me.
I have been a number of times to the Highwood and usually love it! However this time the short ribs were tough and the salmon was overcooked. I think this was unusual as the meals are typically delicious! Great value and experience -
This was an incredibly interesting dinner and the guest chefs that came in were absolutely incredible. The food was delicious, service was attentive and courteous and the seating was comfortable.
Everything was truly outstanding, my only suggestion is for the new students to be more confident and more knowledgeable about what they're serving. The young lady that we had was very nice and sweet but she had a really hard time passing on any information to us (perhaps shyness) We love the experience and would highly recommend it to others.
A great dinner at The Highwood! Food presentation was outstanding and the food was delicious. Service team looked after us very well! Thank you for a lovely dinner! My guests from out of town loved it too!
