Service was quite slow , I ended up wanting to cancel my fries order. When the bill came, there were multiple mistakes, which made the experience even more frustrating, regardless of food that was delicious.

We wanted hearty food for lunch and found it at James Joyce. My in laws had been to Ireland and said the food was similar to what they enjoyed there. Service was great and the weather made for good outdoor dining. The inside is absolutely beautifully decorated in the Irish theme. We all enjoyed the food and service. The dates appetizer!!!!!! I loved the boxty and my gathering law loved his lamb stew. The ladies got salads and were pleased.

Very lovely atmosphere, love the way it looks inside with the remnants of the old bank still there. Several of us took a seat on the patio on a hot day to get a drink and some appetizers. Once we were sat our waitress (Carla) seemed less than interested in serving us, we thought it was weird since we had just sat down and had no interaction besides telling her how many for seating. The whole time we were treated as an inconvenience to her even though it was around 3:30 pm on a Wednesday with a handful of patrons seated. Once it came to payment she seemed mad that we wanted our 7 person bill to be all separate instead of altogether. This is a touristy street, I’m sure it’s quite often for a group of friends to show up and have some drinks without it all being on one card. The system they have that’s electronic has a very easy way of splitting the bills to each seat so I’m unsure why she didn’t just do this in the first place. Anyways she was very unpleasant from that moment on, she made sure to tell us she didn’t add auto gratuity even tho we were totally okay if she had since we were a big group. By this time we were pretty off put by her entire attitude with us, we were mid paying when she said very loudly under her breath that she should have added auto gratuity as she was seeing what we were tipping her based solely on her really bad attitude. I’m so certain we would have had an otherwise good experience if we had one of the other servers, unfortunate when you are traveling from another province and have limited places to stop at. Definitely won’t recommend to anyone I know traveling there just in case they ran into her as a server. Yikes

Last Wednesday we had our first dinner here in Calgary. It was very good. Friendly people and good food. Also a funny Little bird above the entrance.

Genuine atmosphere - lots of historic Guinness artifacts and vintage ads

Even though I didn’t hear an Irish accent while I was - it had a good vibe.

Was here for an event over stampede, had great vegetarian options (the basil was a bit bitter). The baked brie with apple was delicious.

Probably a mistake going in here during Stampede week - so many other better options. The shepherds pie appetizer was barely edible due to overcooking (we left most of it and mentioned it to our waitress - who did nothing about it) and the fish and chips were just okay. Beer was good though!

Went to the James Joyce Irish Pub on a work break and got beef sliders. I do admit I missed it bsd bacon. I do take blame for that part. However upon ordering I asked my waitress if it had bacon as I absolutely don't eat pork. She assured me that it did not contain pork. Upon almost eating it , I noticed it had what looked like bacon. I asked the waitress and sure enough it was confirmed there was bacon. The waitress was so friendly. She offered to make me another ones without bacon. I had agreed but realized I only had 10 minutes left on my break. I politely asked for a refund. The manager then came with the menu pointing there was bacon written. I left. Sorry this was poor customer service. If you didn't want to refund me fine. But at least say hey next time your in come on in well make it up etc etc. Since that was not done, I will not be back.. Waitress was so nice..management though in my opinion can do better.

Went here for a dinner of 6 people. The waitress was amazing. I have a strict diet and I have to be Gluten free. I ordered a burger on GF bread and it was DELICIOUS 😋 It's hard to find good tasting GF bread, I would highly recommend James Joyce!

Decent Irish Pub on Stephen Avenue. No draught Guinness which was disappointing. They had cans but I went for Nebula on draught which tbh was meh. Good service and I like all the memorabilia. Quietish but it was a Monday night in March!
