Mina's Vietnamese Noodle Soup Restaurant

This was my go to place for over a decade, even after moving across the city. Food was always super tasty and consistent and despite a change in ownership a few years back it stayed the same. Unfortunately can’t say the same after the recent change in ownership. I’ve ordered my usual dish a few times (thought maybe the first time was a one off) and it’s totally different. Different taste, different ingredients used (noodles are lower quality) and a totally different very salty sauce. Portions also smaller. Doesn’t taste terrible just average, nothing like before. Too bad, will have to find a new spot.

Service used to be great.
Expect the brown indian server/cook to wait outside till there's a customer. Has no idea what's going on so he will try to up charge you after giving you the smallest portions. Little to no meat on top of really dry and stale rice noodles. Worse experience yesterday afternoon.

Please review and re train the brown guy.
Making this place go down hill.

I feel bad cause the original owners were worth supporting. Not sure what's changed other then the portions.

This was the only place I used to go to for Vietnamese. No longer the case. unfortunately. The portions are a joke now. I see this is a common complaint. To the owners: you may think you’re saving money by shrinking the portions, but losing customers will cost you more in the long run.

Have been here several times before and always enjoyed the food but I am horrified at the service I received tonight and will not be going back there anymore. I ordered a noodle soup for myself and my husband ordered one as well. We added a $15 charbroiled pork with spring rolls for my daughter and when the food came, the rice dish could hardly be called a meal, especially one commanding that price point. It was a thin layer of rice with an absolutely pathetic portion of meat. When it arrived and I asked the server if this was right, she shrugged and said yes this is what the kitchen gave her. I asked her to go talk to them to fix it because it’s not a reasonable portion of food and she went into the kitchen and never came out with an update. When I finally called her over again she acted like she hadn’t been asked to do anything about it and brusquely asked us what we wanted to do. We rejected the food because we didn’t want to pay $15 for it. The attitude and lack of care about what they’re serving their customers is appalling. I wouldn’t recommend this place. There are other Vietnamese restaurants with much better food, portions and service.

Not vegetarian friendly, even the " vegetarian soup" it's made out of beef broth, so unless you want steam white rice go somewhere else

i love the place nice and clean.The FOOD taste good,the pho noodle soup taste different very delicious the spring rolls its yummy.far from my place but its worth it for the travel???

I just came back to Calgary and first stop was Minas BUT it has changed. Wonton soup had very little veggies and wonton was doughy and very soft almost like undercooked dough. Shrimp salad rolls were bland and the rice wrap was very thin and I couldn’t hold it cause it completely fell apart. What a big disappointment. Needless to say I won’t try them again. Too bad it used to be grest

Shrinkflation alert. We've been customers since it opened. We ordered for pickup last night. Prices are way up, and portions are way down. My wife's plate was garbage and ended up there. The fired wonton's smelled bad and ended up in the garbage as well. We used to get two or three meals from one serving, and now the plates are so small we were both left hungry. Never going back, never recommending.

I suppose to post last week but i was so busy, and now i saw one review about the portioning. I ordered the same food "charbroiled beef with spring rolls" and it was delicious and too much for me ?☺️ will order again ?

Shrinkflation alert!!! My heart is broken! We used to love Minas. The portion sizes have shrunk drastically, and they charged us for fish sauce when it normally comes with the meal! There was almost no bean sprouts in my dish, and the peanuts were not chopped or toasted! If you scroll back to other reviews, you can see the portions are cut down by almost half. I never thought I'd have to eat a granola bar after finishing my $15 Vietnamese meal, when I normally can't even finish it.
