Pho Hoan Pasteur (Royal Oak)

We visited this recently for the first time. Our friends had recommended this restaurant! It was a Saturday night and it was busy! Our server was great. Very friendly and helpful. He explained the menu for us and was very attentive. We started with chicken spring rolls, then had Pħo and it was delicious. The parking is easy to find and free at this place. Our overall experience was wonderful. We can’t wait to come back.

I did not have a good experience at all. We visited twice to give this place two chances but none of them was worth our visit. Today it was extremely busy, with only. 4. workers. We waited so long for one pho dish to come out and the other far long after even though we ordered at the same time. There was definitely NOT enough staff to help out as I could tell how exhausted their faces looked and how little service everyone was getting. I understand that its not a high end restaurant so I shouldn't expect much but the wait time is extremely slow. There were not enough people to notice us when we just wanted to ask for some extras. On another day, one of the young girls thuiy (did not get her proper name) working there as a server was also not respectful at all. She was very dismissive, and I don't think she understood us at all. She didn't respond and just walked away. Expected much better, but left very disappointed.

I'm not sure if there's a new owner and chef but things taste different and nothing special anymore. Just run of the mill pho restaurant now. It used to be so good... Sad.

2019. Good service, good food, hugh portions, can get extra noodles or meat for a few bucks. A couple of dishes fed the whole gang and had leftovers. Didn't taste like they use MSG. So flavorful I didn't have to use hoisin sauce or hot sauce. Clean facilities. Nice modern decorations. Packed for lunch and had to wait a bit but worth it.

My first time trying this place. Ordered take out & picked up. Food was ready when stated. Staff not too friendly, looked rushed & distracted. Food quality disappointing. Spring rolls good. Crispy noodles were just a container of dried noodles that looked like they just came out of a bag. The stir fry dishes were flavorless, came in a bowl & looked like soup. Very cornstarch heavy, slimy sauce with no flavour. Mostly cauliflower & overcooked. It was barely edible & reasonably expensive, will not be ordering again.

Food is always on point and the portions are great! Service is great, we always get take out and never have been disappointed. Highly recommend the special with sate broth. The broth is nice and thick and super filling. Spring rolls are a great addition too!
