Excellent pho! Great price!

Pho Uncle Ten in Calgary is an average Vietnamese offering. Some of their dishes were very unusual in presentation and flavor from other traditional restaurants I have visited before. The service was kind and attentive. The space was average...a basic mall outlet.

We were seated before a huge group of 12 came in. We got our order in atleast 5 minutes before they even sat down but yet our food arrived AFTER all of theirs.

Turns out the waitress forgot to pass our order to the kitchen. They weren’t even busy…

Atleast they made it right and gave us spring rolls on the house and 15% off.

The food was pretty good but nothing to write home about. They did not have oxtail bun bo hue, only Vietnamese sausage.

My dad and I are frequent customers, has that family love feeling this restaurant. Great price, even greater flavour! There is no topping their hospitality and it makes you want to come again everytime.

We visited Pho Uncle Ten for lunch on a Saturday.

It's located in Pacific Place mall, and can be accessed either through the mall or through a separate restaurant entrance at the back of the mall.

The mall was very busy on that particular day - as per usual - however the restaurant only had a few other patrons; we were hopeful this was not an indicator of the food quality.

The service was friendly and attentive. We opted for tea, chicken sate salad rolls, the house special pho and the steak and beef ball pho.

The chicken sate rolls came out very quickly, and were served with a huge dish of hoisin sauce, topped with peanuts and sriracha. Disappointingly, the amount of chicken in the rolls was extremely sparse, and some bites had no chicken at all. There was a sprinkling of veggies in the rolls, however they were mostly composed of rice vermicelli. I would not recommend this dish.

Onto the pho; we were impressed with the clarity of the broth, it was definitely well skimmed. It had a light hint of spices and seasonings, however I would have loved for the flavour to be more pronounced. The pho - similar to the rolls - was mostly comprised of noodles, however the noodles were cooked to a nice, al dente consistency. There was very small portion of beef in both of our bowls. We were provided with a generous portion of basil, bean sprouts, lime and chili's, which was great as we love to use as much as possible.

Overall, the pho was decent, but there are certainly better options in the area. Would I make a point of going there again? No, but it would do in a pinch.

Soup was super tasty, me and my husband refuse to go anywhere else after trying this place. Feels like each bowl was made with love.
