We stopped here for a quick lunch during the Old Fashioned Christmas events, the food and overall atmosphere where good but the cleanliness was lacking. We stopped in around for about an hour between 1-2pm and it wasnt super busy at all, yet every unused table was full of grumps. When groups left, the young people working didn't bus the tables. When ordering, staff didn't point out where the milk and sugar was for coffee. Additionally, the garbage was overflowing.
The young folks working were friendly, but didn't seem fully trained in how to maintain a cafe.
On the upside, the cafe was quiet and relaxed, the food was not bad and the price wasn't outrageous for being inside Heritage Park. We loved the rest of the day, but the cafe staff working at the time we went in need additional training in how to keep a cafe running, or they need to hire a person to keep things clean and bus tables, cause none of them were doing it. Looking back, they all seemed a bit clueless, like that had been hired for the holiday events, and they may have been the thing, just a lot of new employees in need of some direction.

I arrived too late at Heritage Park to make it worthwhile paying to go in so just stopped here for a coffee. The Railway Cafe is located just outside the entrance to the Park so is free to visit anytime and is built in an oldy-world style that is supposed to resemble the 'casual elegance of a 1930's cafe'.I thought this might be the original location for the station, but it isn't. It's a recreation of the CPR (Canadian Pacific Railway) that was in downtown Calgary back in 1893.Great little refueling stop, most of the clientele looked like they were from the 1930s.
Needs to add vegetarian / vegan / plant based food options. None available, other than a couple small salads.

We were sold SPOILED food. On Saturday, February 17TH 2024, we went to the place and bought sandwiches and a tray of protein. However, the tray contained ham in OBVIOUS decomposition state, the smell was terrible, and the color was GREEN. It seems impossible to me to think that they didn't notice. Additionally, it was meticulously hidden in the corner under the cookies. I would hate to think that someone in the kitchen did this to deceive people, but it seemed that way. When we notified this, the girl at the counter had no problem giving us our money back, she was kind, but the situation seems DANGEROUS, and it made us wonder about the quality of the rest of our food. Please be aware of this.
