Rau Bistro: Vietnamese Street Food

This restaurant is the best Vietnamese restaurant I’ve ever been. The food is always tasty and flavourful. You know right away that the food is always fresh and made the same day. Love the ambiance. Good staff!

I love the food here, they taste great BUT the service is terrible. Every single time I ordered through UberEats, they NEVER included utensils unless I had to specify that on my order. How expensive could the utensils be to NOT include them in a to-go order? I know running a restaurant is tough and costly but shouldn’t that be the bare minimum to do for your customers?

Their menu offers quite a large variety of dishes. The pho was a lacking some flavour but the beef carpaccio was amazing. Service was alright, and we did see them attend to tables that were sat after us before they came to us. The honeycomb cake was also really good! I would come back for the dessert.

If you are in calgary stop her for sure, their dishes are just spot on my favorite wrap2. The service is excellent, they also have discount for takeaways.

Took a chance and tried this place for the first time. Ordered the pho special and chicken salad roll. The pho special broth had a nice aroma of spices (beef had nicer cuts). The chicken salad roll had a good portion of veges and chicken (chicken had good flavor). Prices here are a bit higher than other vietnamese places but overall impressed.

Edit: been ordering here lots. Recently my order had less chicken in the rolls and subs. Gone downhill and considering not ordering ever again.

Family member ordered the dry vermicelli bowl and chicken wings to bring home. Chicken wings is decent and I would recommend. The meat from vermicelli bowl is great, but the vermicelli itself is the problem.

The first time I had it at the restaurant, I thought it was my problem or just my bowl that had that very unsettling smell and wacky after taste, which my body didn't allow me to swallow a bite of it. I even asked the waitress about the noodle and she bought out a bowl with only the fresly cooked vermicelli noodle and the smell was worse from the steam of the hot noodle; The irony is that when the cook came out to check on me, I have raised my concern about the smell and taste of the noodle, she has admitted that the smell is very noticeable, but ensure me that the noodle is cooked fresh.

At the end, I just had to fish out the meat and veggies to eat in a different bowl so I don't smell the noodle while eating.

But after reading some of the reviews, then I realized it wasn't just my experience!! Lots of other customers wrote the samething on their reviews regarding the vermicelli bowl. I have had their noodle soup as well, I can't say I am a fan. The only thing that if I ever will get from here and recommend of this place is their chicken wings, it is truly delicious.

But honestly, there are lots of other options among the area by Centre Street and 16 Ave have better vermicelli bowl and noodle soup.

Should be 5 star, but IMHO the best pho in town has less meat and tendon and delicious protein bits in that it used to. I'd happily pay two dollars more to keep it as it was, but I understand trying to keep prices competitive and reasonable.
