Silver Inn, where to start; Amazing, we lived in Calgary for years and this was a go to, we lived outside of Calgary for years and this was a go to. My wife and I shared many meals here alone, with our daughter and family as well. Birthdays, and other celebrations. We miss having "Mom" sit at our table in her down time, or comparing Candy Crush levels with our daughter, and showing us her new grandchild, she was so proud. We love you guys, we miss meals in the best restaurant in Calgary. Best of luck in your future retirement or endeavours. Jay, Erin and Hailey.

A nice Chinese restaurant with a very rich history. This restaurant is the birth place of a Chinese cuisine favorite "Ginger Beef", now enjoyed my many people at many other restaurants all over the world. Silver Inn has been a Calgary staple, located on Center Street North, for many years now, and unfortunately will soon be closing it's doors after many decades of serving Calgarians. Come try this restaurant while you can.

I am a big ginger beef fan and I always wonder what it was like from the original place. It was already on my places to go for this reason ?It was fairly quiet tonight and I would not have had to make reservations, but I wasn't going to chance?‍♀️, I looked up some Google reviews and the menu beforehand so we knew exactly what to order: Ginger beef(of course), fried pork dumplings, beef with broccoli and chicken fried rice. And the fried pork dumplings definitely stole the show as they were our number one pick, so much flavor with some soy and chilli oil..so good, ginger beef was the most tender I have tried and very good, also the beef with broccoli was also so delicious, beef was tender and the broccoli cooked just right. The chicken fried rice was just there as filler? and they have decent sized portions as well. I would definitely suggest checking them out while you can?..also have to say the service was impeccable ? my water glass never went below half and always filled with ice cold water?

My parents came to Calgary in the late 1970s to start university, and a new life in Alberta. They discovered the Silver Inn and the rest is history, over 40 years in fact. Years and years of great hospitality with family dinners, family celebrations and meaningful conversations having been had here. So many memories of growing up and coming for dinner with my family. Nothing but absolute love to the whole family. Thank you for being a Calgary staple and setting the bar for great food! ?

Wow!!! My first time there in about 25 years. Why did I wait so long? I don't know... The food was excellent. Every dish was awesome including the ginger beef! We will be back there soon for more dinners. Highly recommend!!!

There may be fancier places to have Chinese food. There are none better than this place in terms of delicious flavors of china.Legend says they invented ginger beef as it's known in western Canada. I think it's true. The true expression of the Chinese people living on a Canadian prairie.Hot and sour soup is LEGIT.Also don't sleep on the salt and pepper squid or the dumplings.

Best Chinese food period. I’ve been going here for 40+ years and I’ve never found a place as good! I recommend it to anyone who wants delicious food with great flavour and quality.

Have been going there for forty years! The best Chinese food in this entire city! Always good and totally consistent! Our favourite is Chicken with Broccoli in a very tasty garlic sauce!

B-List. Strong, friendly and hard working management and staff. They are prompt and efficient. Good people. The ambiance is old school and it's pretty cool. Like going for a road trip to that small town restaurant that your parents went to. The food ranges from just ok to very good. It really does depend on what you order. If you can stay away from the mega sugar-added dishes or the deep fried plates, you may have a great experience. Portions and prices appear to be average. I feel like this would be a place you would go with your parents or grandparents. It also reminded me of eating at a carnival or even the Stampede. If you go, you'll know what I mean. As always, for real. You be the judge.

Finally got around to trying the home of ginger beef. Was not disappointed at all. I would have to say they have the best batter - deep fried Chinese food that i have tried so far. I will firstly admit that there spicy squid is now my favorite beating out my old go to (golden moon) the squid was fried in a crisp fresh tasting batter and seasoned just right. The ginger beef was fried just right with a tangy yet mildly spicy sauce drizzled over it, very good. Also worth mentioning there take on Wor wonton. Using a beef broth really changes things, it was quite good, decent won tons too. I will for sure be going back in the future

Silver Inn has been in business for a very long time, exactly where it is today. No doubt, like every other restaurant, they have been affected by the Covid crisis, but old classics have a way to never go out of style. The food is simple, authentic, tasty, fresh and quick to arrive at the table. The staff is friendly and ready and the location is convenient. The dining room is perhaps a bit old-fashioned looking, but in a way, this is also part of the experience.I have enjoyed every meal I had in this place, most of them shared with work colleagues.Invariably, when my colleagues and I go for lunch at the Silver Inn, a few tables are taken by [what appears to be] old regulars. They too, no doubt, keep coming back for that simple comfort & welcome.Keep doing what you do, Silver Inn!
