Truly one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in years. We came for a mid-week dinner and were so impressed with every aspect of this place. The restaurant itself is beautifully designed — a perfect blend of modern and cozy, with soft lighting and comfortable seating. Our server was attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and drink menu. I opted for the chef’s special, a slow-roasted pork belly dish, and it was outstanding. Crisp on the outside, tender inside, and paired with a delicious apple chutney and roasted root vegetables. Every bite was perfect. My partner had the vegetarian curry and was equally thrilled — rich, flavorful, and aromatic. What really stood out was the attention to detail: warm plates, clean presentation, water glasses never empty, and genuine service. We lingered for nearly two hours and never once felt rushed. This place has clearly earned its reputation, and we’ll be back again soon — likely with friends in tow!

Stay away. The restaurant feels more like a tourist trap. It lacks a clear culinary identity—unless one considers kitsch a style. The food is overly bold, as if the chef is still searching for direction and trying to present this lack of style as something exceptional. They are also rather greedy, charging for a so-called ‘welcoming’ slice of bread that arrived cold from the fridge. When a pricey restaurant charges extra for starter bread—and serves it cold—it just feels sad. There are certainly better restaurants in Calgary at the same price point. That said, the wine list is solid.

Teatro offers a refined dining experience with excellent service and atmosphere, which made it a great choice for a wedding venue. The food was very good overall, with the halibut as a highlight and the tiramisu fantastic. The pork dish was less enjoyable, with too much fat, but the rest of the meal more than made up for it.

We just celebrated our wedding at Teatro! The food and service was amazing! Before booking the venue, it was of utmost importance to us that we chose a restaurant with attentive, polite service and delicious food. Teatro absolutely delivered on both fronts. Our guests even raved about the food and complimented the service. Also, the inside is so aesthetically pleasing that we were able to have minimal decor yet the ceremony and reception looked beautiful.

Food was fine — nothing special — but the service was extraordinarily bad. We brought a friend there to celebrate her birthday. She had just finished a photo shoot before our reservation and took a few pictures at the entrance of the restaurant. The hostess came out and, in a very rude and unpleasant tone, told her it was private property and she had “no right” to take photos there.
When we went inside, we ordered appetizers and drinks, then waited over an hour for our main courses. Only then did our waitress mention that their “policy” is not to serve mains until the appetizers are cleared — a rule we were never informed about. Her demeanor throughout made it feel as if serving us was some kind of burden. The only pleasant staff member we encountered (unfortunately not our waitress) apologized for the delay and was kind.

After paying in cash, we waited another 20 minutes for the manager — the same rude hostess from earlier — to check the money and bring our change. Finally, when our friend brought out her cake for a quick photo, she asked if we could eat it there. We were told it would cost $30 per person to eat our own cake. Evening was constantly ruined for us.

Honestly, I see no reason to return to this place, and I would absolutely not recommend it.

We had the absolute pleasure of celebrating our anniversary at Teatro Restaurant in Calgary, and it was an unforgettable afternoon from beginning to end. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for.

On our table, there was a beautifully handwritten card signed by every single member of the staff, congratulating us on our special occasion ,such a thoughtful and personal touch that meant a lot to us.

We were warmly hosted by Chef Camilo, whose presence added a personal and genuine charm to the night. Our server, Danielle, was exceptional, attentive, kind, and incredibly knowledgeable. She recommended a bottle of wine that turned out to be just perfect for our afternoon.

To start, we had the calamari and oysters, both fresh and absolutely delicious. For our main dishes, we shared the funghi pizza and the eggplant parmesan, which were rich in flavor and beautifully prepared.

To finish, Chef Camilo personally brought out our dessert a stunning lemon cake that was the perfect sweet ending to an already incredible meal.

The ambience and decor of Teatro are simply breathtaking elegant, intimate, and full of character. Every detail of the evening was curated to perfection.

Thank you so much to Teatro, Chef Camilo, and our lovely server Danielle for making our anniversary so special. We’ll cherish the memories and definitely return soon.

We had the most lovely wedding reception in the Opera Room at Teatro. The staff were wonderful, and the food was excellent! Suzanne, the event coordinator, was incredibly accommodating—she helped us with dietary needs, special wine requests, and was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the planning process. The space itself was stunning; we truly couldn’t have asked for more.

Thank you again, Teatro team!

The pasta bolognese was amazing! I sat at the bar & Jeff was an exceptional bartender, so personable & attentive. I had the Bordeaux wine…Delicious! Jeff let me try some of the other reds also but the Bordeaux was my favorite. The Raul Silva Espresso martini is incredible & I was skeptical. Would recommend for anyone visiting Calgary.
