The food was absolutely amazing, I had the 31.B peanut beef satay. Probably some of the best Pho I've ever eaten.

We arrived on a Saturday at opening. There were 3 tables including us. The restaurant was spacious with lots of seating. The menu was elaborate and covered most items one would see from a Vietnamese restaurant.Pork spring rolls were good, no burnt spots.Salad with lemongrass chicken was tasty. Not too salty. However, the chicken was not sliced through, and no knife was provided. Making it difficult to eat.The sub and the ultimate vermicelli arrived at the same time. The sub slided onto the table completely when the waitress put down the plate. We asked for a replacement and she looked surprised. The new sub came shortly. The bread was fresh. Meat to veggie ratio is the smallest we have ever seen at Vietnamese restaurants around Calgary. It was loaded with carrots. It should have been called a carrot sub instead of a satay beef sub.Very little toping on the vermicelli as well. The taste was okay.Overall, there are other Vietnamese restaurants that offer better food at a better price.

Was super excited to try this pillar of Vietnamese cuisine in Calgary today. When I found out I had an online lunch meeting, I elected for delivery to my hotel. Placed a simple order for two items at 0630 this morning for delivery at 1200-1230. Got a notification that Van Son received the order shortly after nine, anticipating a 1200-1230 arrival, 60-90 minutes after they open. Excellent! However, the restaurant arbitrarily canceled my order at 1135 this morning, because “they couldn’t get to the order.” Yes, the same order that was likely one of the first in the queue when they arrived to do prep that morning, the same order they acknowledged shortly after 0900. I understand in house diners may take precedence over delivery orders, EXCEPT when that order has been sitting there for 5 hours before opening and that same order is acknowledged two hours before opening. Completely unsat and unprofessional.

30B is my go to comfort food especially when I'm sick; I'll order it on Skip and the portion is great, the favoring is amazing, always a win. It's the only thing I have tried but I can vouch it's awesome. Peanut satay chicken noodle soup for the win!

Good food but poor serviceThe food is great, but the waitress is horrible. She is rude when taking our order. No plates or utensils when appetizer arrives. When we are for utensils she only gives us one set. We had to ask three times to get another set. While we are eating she tries to take our plates. There’s only four tables on a Thursday afternoon. Not sure why rushing us out.

This is our go to spot for affordable, delicious and nourishing take out. I always crave the chicken satay pho when I'm feeling under the weather.

Came in to give this restaurant a try, heard from several people it was very good Vietnamese spot. Definitely was disappointed. Ordered a vermicelli bowl and salad rolls. Food is blend and no flavour, meat had a very odd smell.

I believe Van Son has recently changed hands, the people there are different. Usually not a bad thing when a different team runs the show, but the new crew is comparatively less friendly and less attentive to customers compared to before. Van Son was known for their excellent and upbeat customer service, it's a shame that the new owners did not keep this up. Also, the quality in food has declined - the broth tastes similar but the meat is not as well prepared. The salad rolls is what used to make Van Son a differentiator, with their pillow-soft and delicious taste - but now they're just dry rolls like other Vietnamese restaurants who don't care about quality. While quality has gone down, prices have gone up. Lastly, the cleanliness is not what it used to be: the bottom-side of tables are sticky! Too bad, this place used to be the go-to place along the 16 Ave Corridor, time to find a different regular spot.

Long time customer here. Just ordered the beef and veggie broth with a crispy egg noodles bowl. Probably the best Vietnamese dish I’ve ever had. Broth was super flavourful, noodles had a nice crunch. This place never disappoints. Also got the crispy pork wontons, amazing.
