Being a bakery I had expectations that the crust and dough would be very good. My expectations were exceeded. Absolutely amazing crust and dough on this Za. Unfortunately everything else was merely good. The Salami was good, but overcooked. Uprising also falls into the common trap of Canmore Pizza joints by scrimping on the sauce. While the taste of it is awesome, there is such a paltry amount of it that it is almost non-existent. The pizza was also poorly prepared with most of the toppings sliding in to the middle creating a rather sloppy mess. If more diligence and care went in to the preparation, as well as a massive increase in the quantity of sauce, this could easily be a 5 star Za and possibly the best in Canmore. Unfortunately the dynamite dough and crushing crust cannot save this from the 4 star range, which is disappointing. The potential is absolutely there for this pizza to be top notch and unequalled.

Yummy sourdough bagels, just like Renfel's in Montreal from my youth!
Tastiest coffee I've found in Canmore, served with a smile

Friendly staff, quick service, quality food and coffee drinks. Enjoyed a London Fog, Raspberry Danish and a fine sandwich. Great location.

food is overpriced and tastes terrible. Cake tasted like it came from the grocery store and cost 10$ for a slice! Sandwich was very plain and unflavoured with a very small soup serving. Wouldn’t mind paying over 30$ for lunch if it was really good but it was terrible. Sad because it’s such a cute location with nice staff.

The service is extremely bad here, you stand there for 5 minutes before they acknowledge you, and aren’t friendly or polite. But considering that the staff aren’t paid I don’t blame them. When I was there they were pulling espresso shots at 9 seconds, if you know anything about coffee you know that’s just wrong, it should be around 30 seconds. Not drinkable. Management is horrible. Will not be returning.

I was so excited to try out this place, and it was a huge disappointment. We were there during Valentine's weekend. First of all we walked in and had no idea what to do.( do we order, and carry our own stuff? Do we sit down and order?) There was no line up so after a while we asked the cashier, who was seemingly annoyed by us. We ordered 2 cruffins ( one lemon one berry). We've asked for water, the cashier/waitress walked away and never gave us water. We had to sit upstairs, and literally go down with a pitcher as there was no water upstairs either.. The berry cruffin was awful. We asked ( before ordering)if it was filled or the creme was only on top. The cashier said it was filled. Well, there was zero filling, and the cream sitting on top was solid, and the pastry rock hard. The lemon one seemed fresher so we just ended up sharing that. So 2 sugary croissants ( 1 we could eat) were $17.50 Which is just extremely high. Almost $9 for a pastry??? ( of course there are no prices shown at the display). Before leaving we had to use the restroom and it was disgusting. No soap, no hand towel.. Overall, this beautiful location was a huge let down..
When I got home, I was surprised to see a raspberry danish instead of the blueberry I ordered and paid for. I did try it instead of going back. I didn’t like it at all….and the problem was not the wrong fruit…The dough tasted like a sweet bread not like French pastry. For the price, I prefer Fournil Bakery for my pastries in Canmore. The two sourdoughs I bought, I have yet to try them. The whole vibe and attitude was a bit off…it wasn’t even busy, but somehow they didn’t seem to have a good start for the day.
Great location, tons of seating, clean place. Food was very delicious, a little pricey but worth it for the experience. We had a great time here although we found some of the staff to be not as friendly.

None of the people working seem to ever know what allergens are in their products. If you have no allergies I highly recommend going. If you do or are trying to find a vegan option, I'd skip it. Staff seem extremely new and are not able to help. Maybe don't care? They do have oat milk for coffee.
Dietary restrictions: They absolutely do not have any knowledge regarding allergens or what is in their products. Would not recommend going.

Great bread and pasties. Unfortunately the service is slow and the staff is rude. I went in with my two children for a loaf of bread and a slice of cake. While we waited patiently, the person behind the till made a comment along the lines of “can you control your children”. They were not bothering anyone, just simply looking out the window enjoying their Sunday. It also should not take 10 minutes to put a slice of cake in a box. We go to Canmore often and will be choosing another option.

Located Canmore downtown, a cute place, sitting area pretty cramped. The pastries are ok, fairly overpriced. Coffee and pastry is about $11. The place seemed understaffed and overpriced.
Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly at all.

We noticed this café on our last trip to Canmore last month and decided to check it out. The interior and space itself is beautifully done! Very modern and sleek. Everything else about it, unfortunately, is quite mediocre.
The three baristas working were obviously overwhelmed with the amount of customers coming in. It was an odd and uncomfortable atmosphere as you could tell they were all stressed and not really communicating with one another, and seemed snippy when they actually did speak to each other.
The barista who took our order was quite curt. Once our orders were sent in, it took a long time to receive them (again, no fault of the staff themselves, as it seemed three people were simply not enough to handle the demand). The barista who made all the drinks unfortunately spilled an entire container of steamed milk at one point (hope she was okay as I'm sure this was very hot and she got quite a bit on her hands). The barista who took our order got visibly frustrated at her and used some colorful language, well within earshot of customers.
Once our coffees arrived, the espresso was quite burnt tasting. We also had gotten a berry cruffin to share. Again, the presentation was fantastic, but the product itself was lackluster. The pastry was stale (maybe due to pastries sitting in the open air) and didn't have much flavor. The cream cheese filling literally just tasted like room temp cream cheese and nothing else. We had taken our orders to go, so we didn't realize all this until after we had left.
Overall, The Uprising left a lot to be desired. While the actual space itself and presentation was beautiful, everything else really lacked. If they put as much effort into staffing and training as they did into their interior design, it would be a stellar place to go to. Based on this disappointing experience, we will not be returning.

Great atmosphere, and the staff were friendly.
The issue is…2 staff were working their butts off, but still the wait was crazy long.
Also, $8 for a danish???? $18 for a bagel sandwich. Because of those abysmal prices for average to decent food, we won’t be back….we’ll not for food, and not on a weekend.
