My fiancé and I had a very disappointing experience during Wing Wednesday last week. Despite ordering only from the Wednesday specials, we were charged full price. Our server was clearly inexperienced and unprepared—forgetting basic essentials like water, napkins, and a bucket for wing bones.
Worse, we weren’t given a receipt when we paid—something that should be standard at any restaurant. Days later, when we realized we had been overcharged, my fiancé called to speak with the manager. We have a bank statement showing the charge from 1st Rnd on the exact date, the manager, Cam, claimed it would be “impossible to verify” we were there and refused to offer a refund. His only offer was a single beer and an order of wings, which in no way makes up for the incorrect charge or the poor service.
Afterward, my fiancé left an honest review of our experience, and instead of acknowledging the issue or apologizing, the manager responded by gaslighting him—taking no accountability and making it seem like we were the problem.
This experience raised serious red flags about how this place handles billing and customer service. We won’t be returning, and I strongly recommend others double-check their bills and be cautious when dining here.

Check your bill before paying on promo days! I've always loved and recommended 1st round to everyone for wing Wednesday. Went to this location for wing Wednesday but was charged full price on 3 servings of wings. Didn't realize until now. Manager Cam was willing to give an order of wings and beer to make up for it, but I'd rather take my business else where. Make sure to check your reciepts before paying! Especially if your server is new.

The food here is good, but the service is definitely lacking. I've been twice lately and had similar experiences both times. My glass was left empty, it was difficult to order another drink (no, I wasn't drunk and needed my service slowed down). Tonight we were billed before we wanted to leave and I had to almost beg to get a pop refill. There seems to be a lot of support staff so I don't know if the servers need smaller sections, or better training, but there's plenty of other places nearby that seem to understand customer service.

We came out for my partners birthday and were served by Mila and the evening was disappointing to say the least. A friend ordered a drink for him and she put it on his bill, when he ordered his own drink it was completely missed and we had to ask another server to bring it for us. She missed the main for one of our guests and made him pay for the wrong order she rang in which was not eaten. She didn’t quality check our food until after most people were done eating. The worst of it all was that she didn’t bring our bill (the birthday boy himself) when she brought the bills for the rest of the table and he had to wait 30+ minutes to try and ask for it making us late for the next activity we had planned. As a server myself I can understand a few slip ups if it was busy but the place was dead and she had maybe 3 tables. Overall the experience was disappointing and I do not think that us or our 6 guest will be back, which is sad because I used to love 1st round.

Deep fried pickles, sliders were great! There is a 0% chance of getting food poisoning from nachoes and lettuce wrap chicken, due to them being cooked into leather.

Honestly pretty disappointed, I had heard this place was decent… the look of the place and the selection of drinks was on point but the service was sub par. One girl working the bar and it was not busy. 4 including myself at the bar and a few tables throughout…. Waited for nearly 15 mins to get my drink, then another 5 after I finished to get her attention. Paid my bill and left.
Came down the street to check out the Canadian brewhouse and the moment I walked in I was greeted with a big smile and a hello. Told I could sit wherever I like and was then told about the specials and asked about how’s my day was going!
Maybe try a little better next time…
I’ll probably give it another go at a later date but for now I was quite disappointed.
Miya is the best server here. She’s so friendly and kind and made our experience excellent. We will be back!!

1st Round in downtown Edmonton offers a spacious, open environment that’s perfect for a casual night out. The service is friendly and welcoming, making for an enjoyable experience.
