We had a reservation for 9pm but apparently there was a system glitch? So they were overbooked and we had to wait in the lobby for 15 minutes. Once we got our table we ordered the ricotta and a few drinks. The server completely forgot to order our food. To get our second drink took us waiving him down. We were there for 2.5 hours and had 2 drinks and no food and had to wave the server down for our bills as he was not checking on us. The bathroom had no toilet paper, and the second bathroom had no paper towel. We will not be back until the hiccups of the new restaurant are fixed.

Meh. Waited two months for a reservation, they called to move it back a bit and when we got there half the place was empty. Service was okay, nothing incredible. No food options for vegans. Cocktails were good though. Decor is cute.

My best description of our experience is that I felt like I must have been friends with the owner. The service was phenomenal and personalized. The atmosphere at the bar was great, chatting among other parties even trying things each ordered.
At first glance I wondered if the concise yet diverse menu would work together, and every dish we had was unique while also working together beautifully. You NEED the sweet corn custard/broccolini + fries for dipping— don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Such a stunning, intimate space to unwind and have a drink/delicious food with friends. The service also sets them apart from other options. Kiera anticipated every need for the table and made us feel so welcomed. Alisha, was friendly, genuine, and ensured we had a great experience! Will definitely be back!

Bar Trove has a beautiful and thoughtful interior and a lovely atmosphere, but what really made the night exceptional was the service. Our server Alysha was warm, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The drinks were excellent, and the wagyu beef was to die for. Big thanks to Kiera, the manager, whose calm and professional presence clearly sets the tone for such a well-run team. We’ll definitely be back!

Had the most amazing experience at Bar Trove - truly unforgettable! Was visiting from Victoria for a girls weekend and heard this was a new hotspot worth checking out. Smaller room, recommend making a reservation - however there seemed to be some walk ins come in through the night who were able to get a seat too. Every piece of the room is so carefully and beautifully thought out. We spent the first little while just admiring the little details from the gorgeous fabric on the tufted seats, the art on the wall with history of the area - and more and and more our eyes kept wandering, appreciating the design!
The menu is elegant and simple enough to not be too overwhelming. Our server Alisha gave us some amazing recommendations - I started with the Espresso & Banane which was a very fun twist on an Espresso Martini. For food we tried the caviar (excellent) and the Wagyu Battonets - so decadent. We were fortunate enough to spend some time talking with the bar manager, Kiera, who was such a gem and evidently cared so dearly to make sure everything was perfection - every aspect of service, taste, and experience for us. I highly recommend this place to those looking for a special treat, date night, or girls night out!

On our recent trip to Calgary, we decided to drive up to visit our friends Robert and Sharon Ruyg. Robert made a reservation at a new restaurant, Bar Trove owned by Britany Schultz and Lauren Kyle-McDavid, it was originally opened to support Kyle and Co. Interior Design and Trove Living - an upscale furniture store. All of the businesses are in a historic building on 100th Street NW.
Bar Trove takes up a small space on the left as you enter the building. With only 32 seats and additional seats at the bar, it has a European inspired design. Robert had made a reservation and as we were driving to the restaurant, the manager called saying that they were very busy and had some delays, could we come a little later. She said don't worry, we'll do something we have never done before and set your party up on a dining room table in adjacent Trove Living's show room area.
When we arrived, we were led to the table by the manager, Kiera Lotoski, which was in a room of beautiful furniture, had been set for four with five candles in a candelabra in the center. Kiera provided us with the menu and then explained the philosophy of Bar Trove. Everything on the menu was designed to be shared. While most were appetizer sized, there were several of each item on the plate. Kiera brought us each a glass of Proseco while we reviewed the menu and decided what we would like to share. It was not like a stage multi-course dinner but rather like a feast of flavors.
We decided to try the Trove Caesar, Caviar Bump, the Beef Dip, Lobster Linguine and the Wagyu Batonnet, Broccolini with Corn Custard and Pomme Frites. The Trove Caesar was unique. It combined romaine lettuce with kale, Brussels sprouts, pumpkin seeds and parmesan cheese and truffle dressing. At first the description scared me, but it was absolutely delicious and enough for three of us to share. The Beef Dip was three sliders with a bowl of juice. It too was amazing. The Wagyu dish had seven small skewers of Wagyu beef and a dipping bowl with daikon and sesame. A great item to share. The Lobster Linguine was a large bowl of linguine with a great tomato sauce and cherry tomatoes and lobster. Another winner. The caviar pops with small drops of two different types of caviar. Robert, who didn't think he wanted caviar, tried it and was surprised that he liked it. The small spoons of broccolini with corn custard, a signature dish was also delicious. The range of flavors of everything that we shared was terrific and made a great meal.
However, we weren't finished as there was Bananas Foster on the Dessert Menu. The bruléed bananas in a rum caramel sauce with vanilla ice cream was the perfect way to top of a special meal.
The chef, Eric Hansen came out to see how we liked our meal and to answer some of our questions about the restaurant and the dishes. Opening at the end of June and starting with just two weekends in July, Bar Trove worked out of a very small kitchen, that they were hoping to expand in the near future. The restaurant had been an instant success and kept the kitchen staff working at a furious paste to meet the demands of the guests stopping for a drink and something unique to share.

It's a very beautiful bar, with great service, and delicious well made cocktails. It is not your average bar, definitely an elevated but unpretentious atmosphere. Great place to have a few cocktails and relax with friends. Hayley was especially awesome as our server, cared deeply about our experience and made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. We will certainly be back again.

Had a great time with my friends! The bartender made it extra special, she made us “dealers choice” martinis and was super attentive, explaining the spirits used in our drinks. Food was yummy and service and vibe were excellent!
