A great place if you're looking for a special and unique dessert or gifts for someone who loves to bake. Sadly they can't even warm up a scone and you can no longer enjoy a nice lunch. Something to consider bringing back to your bakery. It is nice they are giving out free Oilers macarons though!

One of Edmonton's most beautiful and delicious desserts! The décor is elegant, cozy, and carefully curated with charming details. I've been there twice in the afternoon, the store is spacious, the downside is that there are a lot of people with children, so if you're looking for quiet you might not be very happy.
The desserts are exquisite, the macarons are delicate and richly flavored, a denser texture. The matcha latte was perfectly balanced, not too sweet, just right for me.
Whether you're a pastry lover or just looking for a nice cafe to relax in, this place is a must visit. Definitely one of the best desserts I've had in Edmonton.

Personally, it's the best bakery in Edmonton. Their chocolates are especially so delicious despite the steep price tag. 😋

This was one of the reasons to cherish the Edmonton visit. The place itself is lovely. Beautiful decor, well spaced tables, and excellent service. We got the famous Duke cake , classic, and chocolate orange shortbread cookies, fleurine tart with mango, and Ester eggs, classic croissant, pain au chocolate, savory cheese scones. I absolutely enjoyed the intricate layers of the Duke cake. Loved the classic shortbread cookies, but the orange 🍊 chocolate was too sweet for our palate. The croissants were an absolute hit amongst all. Scones were a little too mild in flavors. All the pastries hit the spot right on. If we were to visit again, we would definitely go for dine-in. We dig in so fast that there was no time to take pictures. Would love to try their drinks on the next visit. Would definitely recommend the place as a must on your trip to Edmonton.

I miss duchess. The special one.

They used to have large scones for under $4 (kind of in a heap instead of a square) with complementary jam…it was a treasured experience and one I engaged in monthly.

Now, the prices are truly shocking and the quality doesn’t measure up. The scones are terrible - incredibly dense with a strange taste I can’t put my finger on. The same products since before change in ownership are smaller and literally twice the cost.

Yes, the world has changed. But $15 for a single serving tart or cake!?? $4 for a single butter tart?! Not worth it.

Absolutely amazing! We ordered the Duchess Cake and picked up some macaroons. Every staff member that my kids and I engaged with were informative, kind and professional. The storefront is very well designed and high end! We will definitely be back.

Thank you for a speedy pick up order was a bit scared a bit ordering around this time because lots of orders come in. But the staff were really friendly and awesome that they prepared my order ahead of time, explain the mechanics of product lifespan (fridge/freezer life) and encourage us to maintain the freshness of the product. Loved the pastries, and looking forward to returning again. Thank you.

It may not be cheap, but the food here is outstanding and the service matches. This will be one of the places I go to every time I'm visiting Edmonton.

Stepping into this place feels like entering a royal era—the elegant décor and delightful aroma of fresh goodies set the scene beautifully.
The staff are warm and attentive, adding to the overall charm. Each item is not only visually stunning but also tastes incredible. Soft music and thoughtful details create a truly luxurious vibe.

I do wish the prices were a bit more budget-friendly, but it’s a lovely spot for a special treat or to impress visiting guests. It would be great to see some weekday specials or a loyalty program for regulars.

Some of the best, most consistent things about 124th Street are the potholes, the lack of parking, and the Duchess Bake Shop.
We have been frequenting Duchess for well over a decade and have seen them grow with the increasing demand and popularity. Sometimes, when a business expands, things change, and consistency slips.
Not here; never Duchess. The flavors are always exactly as you last remember them - if not better. The croissants are flaky and light, the sour cream and cherry pie always perfectly hits the spot and don't even get me started on the Duke.
When you walk in, you're greeted by the most tastefully decorated space that is done in such a way that it still feels welcoming. It's upscale without being snobby. The display cases are laid out ready for you to select your goodies, and the staff seem to magically appear from the alcove when you require assistance. The fact that everyone gets their own one server here has always been something I've loved - it ensures the same level of service from start to finish.
They've added a coffee bar and small store in recent years, so should you choose, you can check out provisions for all your at home baking needs.

Is it pricey? Yes. Are you paying as much for the experience as much as the baked goods? Yes.
Is it worth it? Absolutely - YES. Should you just go and get it over with. Yes.
If you have the opportunity to enjoy a sweet treat at this location - I promise you won't regret it.
