An Edmonton original in European baking excellence — a true brainchild turned beloved institution. Elegant, warm, and consistently exceptional. Exquisite pastries, beautifully brewed drinks, and friendly staff make Duchess a must-visit, time and again.
For a closer look —
A beloved Edmonton bakery and café I’ve returned to for years, Duchess Bake Shop embodies the art and precision of world-class patisserie. Founder-owned and operated by passionate people who clearly love their craft, their dedication shows in every detail — from the flakiest croissants, delicious macarons, to the most beautifully balanced seasonal tarts. Every visit reaffirms why Duchess remains at the heart of Edmonton’s culinary scene: consistently exquisite quality, genuine hospitality, and a timeless sense of charm.
The bright, airy interior feels both refined and warm, and the service strikes that perfect balance of professional and personable. You can even take a piece of the experience home — literally — with their Duchess Bake Shop Cookbook, a wonderful way to recreate the magic (just be sure to use the finest ingredients to match their standard of baking). Indoors or out, Duchess offers an elevated yet welcoming café experience that continues to set the standard for excellence in Edmonton.

From the moment you walk in, everything feels thoughtful and elevated. The pastries are absolute perfection, flaky, buttery, and beautifully balanced. The croissant was unreal, the pistachio raspberry financier was light and flavourful, and the oatmeal milk chocolate cookie hit that perfect chewy-crisp sweet spot.
Coffee was excellent too, smooth, rich, and finished with lovely latte art. You can tell a lot of care goes into every detail, from the baking to the presentation to the service.
Easily one of the best bakeries in Edmonton and always worth the visit. Highly recommend if you appreciate high-quality baking done right.

Today I visited your store to pick up some treats for my daughter. I politely asked one of your staff members to give me a few minutes while I contact my daughter to confirm what she wanted. After finishing, I turned back to place my order, but the two employees I had spoken to had walked away.
I waited patiently at the counter for someone to assist me, but no one came. After several minutes, another customer walked in, and one of your employees immediately came out to help them ignoring me, even though I had been waiting the entire time.
I was so disappointed by the lack of service and feeling overlooked that I left without purchasing anything. Unfortunately, this experience has made me hesitant to return.

Stopped by the new location and absolutely loved the selection of baked goods. The Brownie croissant and ginger snap cookies were my fave and the pumpkin spice latte was the best I've had all year. I wanna go back for the Tonka bean ice cream!

Miss the cozy atmosphere. It's too open now with the stairs right in the middle. Less space for tables. Bigger isn't better in this situation. But, the pastries are still incredibly delicious!
