We booked a dinner reservation for 4 to celebrate a 57th birthday. There were so many things wrong with our dining experience here I don’t know where to begin.
We started with mussels & brussel sprouts for appetizers. The mussels were served in a tomato based broth that had an odd pizza like flavor. The brussel sprouts were decent; crispy & flavorful but drenched in oil. The 7oz Flat Iron Steaks that we ordered med rare were cooked blue rare, and delivered cold. The Short Rib Rigatoni was a sauce of shredded beef on an oddly greyish looking pasta. The Lobster Mac n Cheese had one minuscule piece of lobster, no macaroni and instead was made with Rigatoni noodles. Again, this pasta had an oddly greyish look with an overly dry, greasy breading on top. The Sautéed Mushrooms were greasy & rubbery. The Salmon with Risotto was served in a bowl with over cooked carrots & parsnips and way too much risotto that again had an oddly greyish look that was a translucent, soupy mush. The salmon on top however was cooked to perfection and the only thing I ate. Thinking the desserts would be better, we ordered the cheesecake (complimentary) and the chocolate brownie. Both desserts were dry & lacked flavor.
Our excellent server is waisting her talents here and cocktails aside, the only positive take away from our dining experience here. Only one other table in this otherwise empty restaurant at 6pm on a Wednesday night. I now know why.
Dinner for 4 with one drink each, 2 appetizers and 4 entrees - $290. Disappointing.

Took my wife here for Valentine's Day. It's a restaurant she's wanted to go to for a while because of their catering to celiacs disease, and next door, the Woodshed Burgers had amazing food. Hayloft had a tomahawk steak on special for Valentine's Day, so we took advantage of that. And had to try the oysters because they looked delicious. It was probably the best food I've eaten at a restaurant, but the price was a hard pill to swallow.

Dietary restrictions: They do have a selection of gluten free dishes as gluten allergies and celiacs disease are taken very seriously. The staff is very knowledgeable about what foods are and are not gluten free.

Went for a great steak and for the most part not disappointed. The steak was cooked perfectly. The only miss for me which has nothing to do with the restaurant is that I prefer my steaks thicker. I ordered the 14 oz ribeye and it covered most the plate but was about 1/2 " or less thick. The flat iron stake that was served at the table was a decent thickness. The sides were great and I highly recommend the coconut cream pie. Service was fantastic.

This is how fast you turn an advocate to the opposite. Sorry for the bad references to my foodie groups. The Hayloft called asking for a pittance of reservation fee with a credit card over the phone. Great way to emulate scammers. Then they ask me to drive in to do it in person. No support of an app or etransfer or slightly modern payment method. So being unable to move my appointment, the manager confirmed if I cant come in to give a $10 deposit for a $350 meal, the reservation is gone 2 days before Valentines Day and that they were okay losing my 5 star rating. Since you asked nicely, here it is.

The food took over an hour and a half. The risotto was undercooked and inedible. The rest of the dishes were ok at best but for that price the should have been much better. Our server was great and they gave us free desserts that were very tasty

I’m sorry to say that our experience was truly disappointing. We invited friends who had never been to Hayloft to join us. The appetizers were barely warm and underwhelming Two of the four of us ordered fish with risotto and the risotto was cold. The server offered new risotto, one order came back and was quite good, the other like soup. The other two people in our party (men) ordered burgers…neither finished them. Our server was kind enough to comp desserts for everyone but by that time the experience had been so disappointing it didn’t mean much.

We make a point of supporting small local businesses when we dine out. It’s not easy to write a review like this, but I have to say that given the price of the food and how Hayloft promotes itself, this experience was just not good enough. There are so many great places out there, and sadly it will be a long time before we go back.

Where to begin... Drinks were excellent. Service was friendly and pleasant unfortunately that's where the good runs out. Came here for my wife's birthday after seeing it featured on the news. Having purchased nonay beef in the past had high expectations. Ordered the steak tartare and it is not as previously pictured in reviews. Extremely heavy on the mayonnaise white in colour and not highlighting the beef at all. Potato crisp was soggy. Small portion. For a good tartar best in the city visit Bistro Praha. Ordered the rib steak and the tenderloin both medium rare for 80 and 44 dollars respectively a la carte. Both steaks came out blue rare, tough and full of connective tissue which was not rendered or broken down. Notified the wait staff and they offered to reheat them although when paying 80 dollars for a steak I felt that was not something that should have to be done. Ordered bearnaise sauce side as a side in both. Sauce was broken and congealed the consistency of jello. Lobster Mac and Cheese not made with macaroni but rigatoni. Ice cold in middle lacking any sort of sauce or flavor. Returned all items around half eaten. Have not been this disappointed in a restaurant in several years. Meal was discounted and complimentary dessert offered but refused. If you can't play with the big dogs stay on the porch with the pups... or at least invest in an instant read thermometer. My wife and i left extremely disappointed and hungry. The keg cooks a better steak on any given day. Save your money.

Absolutely divine flavours and quality ingredients. Highly recommend. A little tough on the wallet but you can taste why it's worth it.

We hosted a team dinner at Hayloft Steak + Fish and it was absolutely incredible. This was the first time we've eaten here and it blew us away. The staff were so friendly and were on top of everything. We especially loved how they gave a detailed explanation about each dish right down to the age of the beef and where it came from.

The food was so good! The steak, chaga cheddar mashed potatoes and brussell sprouts were our favourites. We highly recommend Hayloft and can't wait to be back!

We visited Hayloft with another couple for a night to catch up. The restaurant was cozy, lighting was good, music was a good volume and tables were great for people with mobility issues or larger bodies. The service, food and drinks were amazing. Would recommend for a special meal out.

Messed up reservation. Forgot orders. Ordered medium rare steak sandwich and got a well done grisly tough thing of meat that should have been a trim end for the sausage machine. Mushy overcooked fries. Overpriced. I feel like I’m being taken for a fool when I’m supposed to pay for this. I feel personally embarrassed that I paid for this.

We visited this venue for an event, and the ambiance is wonderful, complemented by an outstanding server. One important point to address is the need for greater attentiveness to guests with allergy restrictions. Ensuring this will help prevent any issues and maintain a positive dining experience.

We went for a workout holiday party.

The main courses were nearly an hour and a half late and was served over the course of 35 minutes.

Vegetarian options: The vegetarian option for dinner was underwhelming, at best. It was functionally puréed vegetables.

Had a dinner for six people here, everyone's meal was excellent. Definitely one of the best steaks in Edmonton.
