Of the several great coffee shops in the Garneau/U of A area Kaffa is one of my favourites. It's located on the second floor upstairs above Red Bike in an old brick building that creates an atmosphere not found often in Edmonton due to our lack of older, heritage type buildings. The south facing windows are three large rolling up windows, like a garage door, that they open in the summer. I've added some photos, both current and from last summer.

It would be great if there were some non sweet pastries.
They do have beautiful muffins and baked goods.

Beautiful interior and good selection of beverages. But, we have been here several times and find the staff not very friendly or welcoming.
The food is excellent and the atmosphere is great; however, the music volume is a bit high, which makes conversation difficult. It’s otherwise a wonderful place to study and enjoy a relaxing coffee.
A slightly lower music volume would improve the experience.

Coffee is great seating is great, my only issue is the service. The person helping me seemed genuinely uninterested wouldn’t even answer my questions or took a while to respond and forgot to give me my items, I wouldn’t say it was overly negative but just a bit of an odd experience even tho I come here a lot it threw me off
Really liked the ambience and the vibe of this place, although I did find the food a bit overpriced.

Today was my first visit to Kaffa and I will definitely be back. Delicious coffee, roasted on site and made by lovely, knowledgeable staff. The atmosphere was comfortable and relaxed--quietish, but with just the right amount of light and background noise to allow for normal conversation without feeling the need to be hushed OR raise your voice. The background music was at a perfectly comfortable volume. The art showcased on the walls was interesting, local, and thoughtfully placed and displayed. The location in Garneau is excellent and I just love cafes and restaurants that are above the ground floor; I'm not sure if it's accessible for people with mobility challenges, though. It really gave me that Montreal/Halifax cozy cafe vibes that I've missed so much here in Edmonton.

They have great coffee, friendly staff, and a really cozy atmosphere. But, the chairs and tables aren’t the most comfortable if you plan to stay for a long time and study there.
I only got a tea so I can't say much, but their earl grey was nice! They gave me a whole tea pot!
