Our family has been dining at this restaurant for years, and we are consistently impressed by its unwavering quality in both flavor and service. Maintaining the same level of excellence over time is no small feat, yet this place achieves it effortlessly, which explains the loyal following of regulars. While every dish here is outstanding, our family favorites are the fried fish, seolleongtang, gamjatang, pork cutlet, fried pork, and naengmyeon! This is truly an exceptional restaurant, one that we recommend without hesitation!!!

I had seolleongtang (ox bone soup) at MaChef for lunch on Sunday. It was a truly unpleasant experience. The seolleongtang was extremely salty. I asked for a slightly less salty broth, and they told me to add hot water. There were three employees, two on their laptops and one on his phone. The service was terrible, the atmosphere was terrible, the service was rude, and the food was tasteless.
It was a restaurant I never wanted to experience again.

I have tried kimchi jjigae in Toronto, Banff, Calgary and Vancouver but ma chef has the best in my opinion. The kimchi has been fermented and tasted very authentic similar to true korean stew. The chef's cooking technique is impressive too, he removes a layer of oil that gathers at the top of kimchi jjigae. He is very detail oriented with his cooking, he has a culinary background.

One of the better naengmyeon I have had in Edmonton (presentation better with some veggies inside). The fried chicken wings were the highlight - exceptionally crispy exterior and very well seasoned (so good I wish I had ordered more!) Friend had their seolleongtang which they said was more well seasoned than average, but still wished there was still some more beef boney kick to it. Quiet ambience very comfortable to dine in. Overall, another good choice for Korean food in Edmonton :)

Amazing food and amazing service every single time! Would recommend this place until the die. Kindest staff and fast.
good soup!
My favorite Korean place in town.
Ma Chef is one of those places that look like any ordinary place from the outside, but the food they serve here is so delicious, and very decently priced that I for sure have to come back here. I ordered the tonkotsu with rice and gravy, and I got 2 huge pieces of pork, plus rice and a salad that all came on one plate and it was delectable. My partner had the cold noodles and they very much enjoyed their experience as well! We both left feeling very satisfied and making sure we remembered this restaurant. We can't wait to come back again!

My favorite dish the shrimp avocado salad. The dressing was tasty ( with sesame seeds mixed sweet and sour). The soups was typical Korean style. I like my beef soup, meat portion was good, with noodle and rice. The waitress was very friendly and chatted with us.
Kid-friendliness: Many tables for family with kids.

My mom and I visit this spot often, our go-to order is either Bulgogi or Bibimbap. The lady that serves us she is very sweet and makes the atmosphere feel so warm . The food is so fresh flavourful and has so many nutritional benefits. For all the people who don’t want the egg in their Bibimbap you don’t even feel it! It mixes in perfectly with the plethora of blends this dish has to offer. The kimchi brings your dish to a completely different level. This place is a hidden gem in Edmonton 😋🍳

The workers are always angry and yelling don’t recommend
Went for dinner last night, got the bulgogi and the spicy beef soup. HIGHLY recommend this place for dinner. They work so well on presentation, service and this is our second time coming back. It was quaint and a perfect atmosphere for a date. We will be back.

HANDS DOWN BEST BOSSAM in the city and it isn't even close. Must try. Pork has a great smokey flavour and it's so damn tender and juicy. The Rocky Mountain stew was perfect on the chilli day and soul warming. The rare beef salad was also tasty. Just make sure to let it warm up at your table for 10 minutes or so, as it's partially frozen when it arrives. Probably my favorite Korean restaurant in the city. Will definitely be back.
