Generous portions, reasonable prices, fresh ingredients. All things equal, probably the best food downtown for the price. I usually get a bowl of ramen, 6 or 8 yakitori, and a side of edamame.
The ramen portion was huge — I couldn’t even finish the bowl. The Tantan Deluxe was delicious and creamy, but the Tonkotsu Black was a bit too salty for my taste, and I found the cabbage in it quite unexpected. Having eaten ramen in Japan many times, I’ve never encountered cabbage in that style before. The Ikageso was perfectly cooked — tender and flavorful — and I really enjoyed the ice cream for dessert. Decided to come here for dinner and found my experience to be mediocre. I was seated right away as there were only a few other tables of diners.

I opted for their tonkotsu black ramen, which ended up being much bigger than I expected. It came with three, thick slices of chashu pork (which were a tad overcooked), beansprouts, corn, a whole egg (flavour was just a tiny bit different than what I'm used to), black fungus slivers, and a giant piece of seaweed...
