We always get out sushi party trays here. It’s good quality and has so much sushi for the price. I’m never disappointed at the food

Sushi were actually good, but the place is too tiny and could be a bit cleaner.

I'm so disappointed. We ordered a bunch of sushi, both vegetarian and otherwise, and it's truly not good. The vegetarian rolls are all mostly carrot with the tiniest little slivers of egg, yam or avocado (pictured is the veggie roll and the futomaki) so you can tell all they care about is cheaping out on ingredients. The rice is so overcooked that it's a uniform mush. And the price is comparable to other, nicer places in the end, so why would I bother ever coming here?

I don't eat meat but my partner said the fish was grocery-store sushi level. The sashimi tasted bitter and cheap.

I knew it was a cheaper option but truly, I didn't think it would be this bad. Never again.

We fell for the reviews, but this turned out to be our worst experience. Either we ate something completely different from what others had, or we just don’t know what kind of people write those reviews.

We ordered a large sushi platter — 74 pieces. There is NO FISH in these rolls! The only line that contained any seafood was with fried shrimp and a barely noticeable layer of roe. It felt like the shrimp had been fried in old, overused oil.

We were very surprised that the ginger and wasabi were served in tiny separate containers. For the first time ever, we encountered sour ginger! For the first time!
Most of the rolls in this large set were just rice with cucumber and carrot, and a bit of crab (you know the kind — the “fish” that pretends to be crab meat).

The miso soup was a generous portion — that was the only pleasant surprise.

The condition of the place leaves much to be desired. Dirty doors, door handles, and so on — all of this creates an unpleasant impression and kills the appetite.

Excellent Japanese food - highly recommended! We accidentally found Toyo Sushi while shopping nearby and enjoyed it so much we plan to return regularly. The tempura is especially tasty and well prepared. We recently moved here from California, so we know what good Japanese food tastes like! The host is very welcoming and the atmosphere is friendly. The decor is not fancy shoji screens and kimonos, but we’re there for the food!

Got the spicy salmon poke bowl and BC roll, good portions and good price, eveything tasted great. The guy who served me today (the owner?) was very friendly as well. 👍👍

Ordered a curry rice bowl to go, which was good. However it came with basically a thimble of sauce for a large bowl. Like a laughably small amount, half a shot glass without exaggerating. The staff were nice and accommodating. Just extremely disappointing.

I found Toyo Sushi randomly while looking for a bite to eat while I was in west Edmonton and I couldn’t be happier with my experience. Great customer service and the scorpion rolls they recommend were amazing and I will be coming back for more when I’m on that side of the city.

Toyo Sushi is hands-down one of my favorite spots! Not only is the sushi always fresh and delicious, but the chicken udon soup is also incredible—comforting, flavorful, and made just right every time.

What really makes this place stand out, though, is the owner. He’s such a genuinely nice guy—always welcoming, kind, and clearly passionate about what he does. You can tell he puts care into every dish and truly values his customers.

Whether you're stopping by for a quick lunch or sitting down for a full meal, Toyo Sushi never disappoints. Highly recommend!
