Went in for Sunday morning breakfast and really enjoyed the farmers breakfast
1st try picked up an order. they forgot $5 Neptune sauce, called, waited on hold for 5 minutes, refused to deliver it (2 blocks away) offered to refund $5 next visit.....sauce for a $28 salmon dish (salmon overcooked) watery gravy, beef in Yorkies was just chopped up (tough) roast, not as advertised. Overall thouroughly unimpressed. Especially at over $70 for 2 apps and 1 main

The Hitchin Post Bar & Grill in Ponoka offers a western/cowboy-style dining experience with a unique and rustic atmosphere, filled with antique decorations and beautiful pictures. The restaurant is spacious, providing comfortable seating for large groups, and tends to be quiet, creating a relaxed environment. While the food has received mixed reviews, some dishes stand out. The butter chicken is praised for its generous portion and tasty butter sauce, while the fries and cheesecake are highlighted as top choices. However, some meals, like the surf and turf and a salmon dish, have been described as underwhelming or not as advertised.
Service at The Hitchin Post is generally attentive and friendly, with staff making efforts to accommodate dietary restrictions. The restaurant is popular among regulars, who appreciate the hard-working staff that makes visits feel more welcoming. Special mentions include the French toast and pancakes for breakfast, steak and eggs, and a variety of pizzas and burgers. Despite some complaints about specific dishes and pricing, the overall experience is often enjoyable, making it a decent spot for lunch or dinner.
