The Other Place by La Patrona

This is an excellent place to get authentic Mexican food! The flavors are fresh, bold. The portions are generous, and everything is served hot and delicious. The staff is friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere is casual and inviting.

Well, I made a reservation. I was running a little late, but I was still within the timeframe allocated when we got there. They weren't even ready for us so in other words, I didn't even prepare our table for us. We had to wait. I asked to sit outside since it was a wonderful day to my amazement we get out there. They got the shotty tables that were smashed together by some unqualified carpenter, not to mention, the smokers area was about 10 feet away from the outside dining, which was wonderful. I can now get smoked meat and food at no extra charge from those smokers wonderful Service was extremely slow this time around took them 45 minutes to get our drinks and appetizers out then it took them another 45 minutes to bring us our mains and mine came back to me. Cold waited another 30 minutes for the server to come to inform her that my food came to me cold she apologized took my meal away when I got me a new one and that was another 45 minutes before I told it oh yeah your dinner is on this way. I informed her to put it in a doggy bag cause I ain't gonna be sitting here much longer 20 minutes later no doggie bag food no bill still waiting. Another lady came by shortly after asked if everything was OK explained to her that no I received my cold meal. She took it away to make me a new one and still haven't received it not to mention my husband ordered a dessert which took 25 minutes to reach the table we've been to this restaurant before many times and this is probably the worst it's ever been oh and a big thing their menus are extremely dirty. They are not washed regularly. They look at the pages. There is water staining on it or liquid staining all over it the dirty. The patio was also dirty french fries all over the ground dirt and dust ball in the corner along the edges of their makeshift enclosure. I will not be returning anytime soon.

The food and drinks tasted amazing. Unfortunately the service was lacking. They were moderately busy and severely understaffed. It took so long to have our order taken and almost 40 minutes to get our drinks. We had to go and find someone to give us napkins and cutlery and they didn't have enough cutlery for us and said they “ran out”. I find this unacceptable. Although the food was delicious I probably will not go back due to the service.

We love The Other Place and visit regularly. Today we went to celebrate our daughter finishing Grade 3. She loves their oven fired pizza. Us grown ups are addicted to their pescado tacos and Tres Leche cake. And the service is consistently top notch.

Had a great anniversary dinner here! Excellent food quality, great service and complimentary churros for dessert! We will be back!

Went at 1pm apparently the start of happy hour! Very relaxed and not busy environment , perfect for a delicious lunch. Authentic and some unique flavours that balance each other out perfectly. Loved the hibiscus margarita! Tacos were of good quality. Beef was extremely tender and well seasoned for both options. Flan and churros , we took home since we were so stuffed - they didn’t make it home lol. Smelled phenomenal and was spot on, fresh and not too sweet!

Very good tacos, came here during happy hour at 12pm.

Service was friendly but pretty slow, so keep that in mind if you’re in a rush.

I ordered the happy hour tacos for $14. It was a bit confusing since there were so many options you could choose, you can’t mix and match so both tacos have to be the same flavour.

It would be nice if they had more details about the tacos written on the menu instead of having the waitstaff memorize it and tell you during the order taking process.

This restaurant was on our list to try for a while. We are huge fans of La Patrona, so we were excited to give The Other Place a try. I will say that the service was great - friendly, courteous, and prompt staff - and the atmosphere is delightful. I was just bummed out by the menu. There are not as many choices as I was expecting and way more burgers/fries than I would have thought. It could just be that my expectations were way off, but I wanted more Mexican. I guess that's why it is "The Other Place". The churros for dessert were fabulous, and the main food was good, just more American than Mexican. It does get busy in the restaurant, so I would make a reservation ahead of time. There are a couple of different parking lots available around the restaurant.

Place looks really nice, a lot more space than the other small establishment "La Patrona". Ordered the "Rib Eye Chimichurri" and it was really good, big steak cooked just right with lots of flavor.

We stopped in today for the first time. We had chips and salsa and guacamole, hibiscus margarita, then the veggie pizza and the Hugo burger with poutine. It was all very good!! We will be back!

I want to share a heartfelt thank you to The Other Place, we were the large group surprise birthday party on Thursday October 10th in the private room. From the moment we started planning, they went above and beyond to help pull off the surprise perfectly, even giving us early access to decorate and allowed us to bring a celiac birthday cake from home. The staff was so warm and welcoming, making sure everyone felt comfortable and could just relax and enjoy the night. Restaurants can be stressful with young children, but it was a night of magic. The food, music and ambience were incredible, and they even helped us pack up the extra food, which was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture. The owner even checked in on us a few times. Happy tears were shed during the speeches and it was a stress free and unforgettable evening. Thank you TOP for making it possible

Pretty good. Menu items that are the same as La Patrona are very good, didn’t like the burger and pizza as much that I got. Still a solid spot
