First time at Tryst. Attended Mother's Day brunch. Food quality was great with nice flavour palates also good portion sizes (not huge). Service was wonderful and atmosphere was relaxed. We will be back to try dinner!

Wonderful restaurant in St.Albert. It caught us by surprise because we haven't heard much about Tryst. The food tasted great - it's unique cuisine (not something you'll get at every other restaurant). They have perfect little portions that are well priced. The service is good. Meals are served within a reasonable time and friendly, accommodating service. The only hick-up to report is that they inform you that you have to leave your table within a certain time frame before you even sit down to eat, which is a bit of a turn off (i.e. in order to make room for the reservation after you). Its never a welcoming feeling to be told that you have to leave before you get settled in. My suggestion is to have the server inform the patron of a upcoming reservation if the table is moving slow. Otherwise, trust that most people aren't wanting to stay for periods longer than then norm in a restaurant.

We ordered the shared plates: Mussels, Lamb lettuce wraps, parmesan fries. My spouse ordered a Cappuccino. I had lemon water. The cups that the water came in smelled bad, like dirty dishwater smell/that dishwasher musty smell on them. It grossed me out so I poured my water into the scotch cup that my lemons came on and drank from that as it didn't smell like the others. Mussels were good, provided reasonable portions. It was made in a green curry sauce which is different, a unique flavor. The bread that came with the Mussels was burnt and I had to rip off the burnt ends. The lamb lettuce wraps came in a tiny portion, I was shocked when it arrive to the table as this is supposed to be a shared plate. We barely got 2 lettuce wraps each out of it. It included some sauces, there was one that was smoky and it was not my thing at all. Additionally some pickled veggies. The parmesan fries had a good flavour to them, and I liked the homestyle potato fries they use. However, they were overcooked and many of them were hard. My spouse ordered a Cappuccino as well. It was alright, nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was relatively quiet, the service was decent, the waitress was friendly. Nothing above board. Overall, it was alright. But would I return? Unlikely.

Service was great. The food tasted great but the value wasn't super great. We ordered the Brussels sprouts which were delicious but got about two whole sprouts and the rest were leaves. I'm ok with small plates but I think that is a bit small. The best dish was the beet flatbread. Glad I tried it but not sure I'd come from downtown Edmonton again. Would recommend but let people know portions are small and it's pricey for what you get. Plus you get kicked out after 90 minutes.

A great date night spot, we shared several delicious and innovative dishes, deftly recommended by our server. Cocktails are many and varied, and the wine list exceeds the typical offerings.

Everything about Tryst gets the 5-star dining experience from me. The food is beyond expectations, the craft cocktails are unique and always delicious, the service above and beyond, and the atmosphere is cozy and quaint. The restaurant also made fantastic gluten free accommodations for one of the celiac people in my dining party.

Brunch is better (excellent). Dinner is kinda meh for the price right now. KFC was great, lamb wraps just ok, Shrimp Boa just ok, short rib ravioli not that good but wife liked it, green salad was a bit weak. Most of it was lacking some oomph. Seemed mostly neutral in flavours. Like you couldn't taste the shrimp in the Shrimp Boa. Tased like pork. Was it intentional? I'm not a chef so who knows. Mushroom crispy rice was excellent Value is very poor for dinner considering you're expecting excellent food for the price which makes this place hard to recommend for dinner right now. Go for brunch instead, skip dinner unless you want to pay $160 for a bunch of dishes and leave thinking what did I get for this? Also might seem trivial but for that bill you expect you can get fairly decent drink choices. Yeah sure the difference between a Pepsi and a Coke is minimal. But if mostly everyone asks for Coke, just sell Coke. Sure, supplier lock-in, etc... but for high prices, give the people what they want. Lol. Mocktails we're excellent though. So again, if you're paying $160 for dinner for 2 and not getting a 7+ experience, whats the point? Like I said, brunch was better. Lol. Also, chairs way too heavy and loud when pulling them out....it's the little things!

The food was great. Definitely room for a LOT of improvement with the service. It's so much nicer when the server checks in to see how you're doing and if you need anything. We sat with empty plates for longer than we should have. We ran out of bread on the charcuterie board, and although it was delicious the amount of food on it was barely enough for two people - plus we ordered the smoked olives and brussels sprouts (both were excellent). We'll come again and I would love to give this place 5 stars because it has the potential for it.

If you follow my reviews, you know that we do late seatings for dinner. I wanted to surprise my wife for our anniversary because this was on her list of new restaurants to try. We had a 745 reservation and didn't get our cocktails til past 830, leaving me irked. Hence, we started out on a low note. But after that, the place slowed down and we had a blast, and I forgot all about the initial delay. I have to shout out Erika, because she made our night special. Just by being there and talking to us. I didn't mind that our food got cold for 40 minutes (our fault) because the conversation was delightful; it was our fault that she was that charming and engaging. Obviously, not everyone will have this chance, so I must say that the food and cocktails were excellent as well. And their wine list is very good (we have many of the same bottles in our cellar). I don't leave the city for much, but Tryst (and Chartier), are worth the drive.

Food was fantastic. Lovely idea for dates or to catch up.Little share items/tapas. We had a great time. Recommend the KFC and the Gnocchi! Bussels were delicious, perfectly cooked with a tinge of bacon in every bite. The old fashion and cranberry orange martini were fantastic and delicious. The ginger pear is more suited for sweet tastes, just the right amount of sour mixed in. The New york sour appears very sophisticated with a very deep, mellow taste - great to telieve an edge after business hours. Cheers to the bar tender!Erika was sociable and fantastic. She went beyond her job of a waitress. She talked to us like friends who haven't met for a while. She took great care of us.

We recently celebrated our anniversary at Tryst. What a charming spot in downtown St. Albert. Our food was outstanding. The warm squash salad and the prosecco battered fish and chips were fantastic. For "small plates", I thought the portions were quite generous and felt that it was great value for price.Looking forward to our next visit!

Husband and I recently went out for a five course valentines dinner here. The food was absolutely incredible and we especially enjoyed the duck croquette amuse bouche & the beef ravioli. The attention to detail regarding plating and flavour is apparent. Highly recommend taking advantage of any upcoming prix fixe menus to try multiple delicious items! Our only complaint was that the chairs are a little loud and awkward, but other than that the atmosphere is very cozy and intimate!

Went for Valentine's Day dinner. Showed up about 10 minutes early, table was just being cleaned & was seated right away. Downtown St.Albert lights in the trees gave a good energy to the evening. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for value is some wine bottle prices seemed like a stretch compared to others. The list is pretty good they have their bases covered, but hey you gotta pay to play. If you don't like it don't drink. Ordered about half dozen plates, all were fantastic. They staggered bringing some at a time which is good when table space can get to be a premium. It's a smaller venue so as much as it isn't loud as it's a good volume that you can have a private conversation for the proximity to other tables. The waitress was great throughout the service. Didn't feel nagged or abandoned. Will definitely be back. Thanks guys.
