This classic Anchorage restaurant isn't what it was a few years ago. The food is typical American food, and the portions were generous but not very imaginative. I had the chef salad, which was on iceberg lettuce, with turkey and ham julienne strips and sandwich style cheese. Sandwiches were also very typical, BLT and soup. One thing I marked down a star for was the problem with undermanned help. Suzi our waitress was absolutely wonderful. She rushed her little heart out to do what ever she could and she was above and beyond. But she couldn’t do everything by herself. She had a great attitude and was the shining star of Peggy’s. Breakfast, pies, and diner environment - that's what they have. I do not recommend lunch unless you like unpack and heat type food (i.e. gravy in a bag). Great breakfast and even better pies!! Very friendly service.
