For those seeking traditional Oaxacan food, Salsa Oaxaqueña is a great, decent Mexican spot in Anchorage. This family run restaurant serves food cooked to order, with delicious flavors and homemade tortillas. Coming from a Mexican American that has lived in NYC, this place is legit. The chicharron de molcajete was fantastic, their namesake tacos are so good, and the tamales are the best outside of Mexico. Guests have enjoyed working through the menu, finding nothing they didn’t like. The restaurant is expanding into an adjacent area, which causes some noise and clutter, but it fills up fast. The price is a little high, but the great salsa, friendly people, and interesting flavors make it a go-to for authentic Mexican food. Highly recommended.
