I suggest bringing or wearing a sweater when dining in the lower part of restaurant. It does get a little bit chilly, but it winter time.

Stopped into Chepo’s in Eagle River recently, and overall it was a great experience! First off, their Chepo’s margarita is a total winner. Simple, refreshing, and perfectly balanced, not overly sweet or heavy on the mix like some places. It hit the spot and set the tone for the meal.

Now, let’s talk food. The birria tacos were absolutely amazing, hands down the best I’ve had in Alaska so far. Tender, flavorful, and packed with that rich, savory goodness you hope for with birria. The consomé was delicious too, perfect for dipping.

If I had to find one downside, it’d be the beans and rice. They were pretty bland and didn’t add much to the plate, definitely could use a little more seasoning or depth of flavor.

But what really made the visit stand out was the service, our server went above and beyond, super friendly and attentive without being overbearing. You can tell they genuinely care about their guests having a great time.

All in all, Chepo’s is absolutely worth a stop if you’re in Eagle River. Go for the margarita and birria tacos, you won’t be disappointed.

Great food, loved it that I had the option for fried chicken because I was voted out by two for Mexican food. Both of the other two were happy with their generous helping of delicious food.

We just had a great experience at Chepos! From start to finish, everything was delicious and the service was excellent. We all started with the queso, which was fantastic—even though they were out of their usual chips, the team was honest about it and still made sure we had a great start to the meal.

I had the Asado Tacos and a Big Daddy Cadillac—both were packed with flavor and hit the spot. One of us had the Combination #1 and enjoyed every bite. The enchilada and tamale plate got high praise, and the steak fajitas were sizzling and perfectly cooked.

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and it’s clear the staff takes pride in making sure guests have a good experience. We’ll definitely be back!

The salsa was tasty, the chips were crisp. I had enchilada, taco and tamale combo…excellent! Oh did a say the beer was frosty? Highly rated!
