Waited in line for at least 15 min inside the shop and was never helped. Staff were addressing drive thru orders only. It was not busy in the shop, I was just standing at the counter being ignored. Left after about 20 min, will not be back. Do not recommend

Alaska is famous for its specialty coffee shops on every other corner. And I've hit most of them. Sleepy Dog has the absolute BEST coffee and a very versatile menu as well. You won't be disappointed!
What an adorable little place! We stopped by for lunch and coffee after a nice hike. The outside looks an old saloon. It seems small when you go in but is actually much bigger. They all sorts of baked goods, coffee and teas. Staff was wonderfully sweet and did an amazing job. The restaurant was clean and unique. Not much parking though. Definitely worth a stop. Try the egg nog chai

One of the legends. Sleepy Dog boasts a longevity of over 30 years, making them the oldest coffee shop in Eagle River. An old rustic building that's most inviting, it looks a bit small upon entering, but there are cool little nooks hidden throughout. Especially the secret dining area in the back. It may be small, but it's intimate. A great place to meet up or hide from the outside world.They have a decent selection of favorites and the baristas can create your personal favourite concoction, for a price. Add a shot for fifty cents.Fair warning, they make their Exxon Valdez latte WITHOUT chocolate. You have to request it for a charge (the drink consists of Hazelnut-the Captain, butter rum-his drink and chocolate-the oil spill).They are most friendly until you utter the name of the big dog from Seattle. Dems fightin' words. There's only one dog in ER and that's the sleepy one. Added bonuses include a drive-thru, rewards club, soups and limited pastries.Bring your own cup save a quarter!07/23
