Salmon was dry, tasteless and over cooked! Choice of desserts were extremely limited! I got strawberry shortcake in a little plastic parfait cup and couldn’t eat it! Strawberries were not fresh but of frozen quality! Potatoes were cold! Salad bar was mediocre! Had been in Alaska for 10 days and this was worse meal I had! Would not go here again!

Wasn't what I expected. Mostly an outdoor experience. Thankful that had a small indoor dining room so we could escape for the sweat bees interested in eating our meal.

Yesterday (8/13/25) was my third visit to the Alaska Salmon Bake this season. I wanted to submit a review, but also wanted to be sure that my dining experience was not of a random nature, but shows some degree of consistency in terms of the service and food quality.

After yesterday‘s dining experience at the Alaska Salmon Bake, I have discovered that the business in general was a big disappointment. I have been a Fairbanks resident for the past 50 years and this has been the worst experience at this business I’ve seen. During the first couple of visits I ordered the fried cod dinner. Each visit when I went to request my serving of cod there were scraps left in the chafing pan, which was served to me. The cod tasted like it had been sitting for awhile. The portions were very small and limited in quantity. The breading was grease laden. The cod itself was juicy and flavorful. But then again, it’s cod. It’s hard to overcook cod.

The final straw was last night when I took my Grandsons there for dinner. My 11 year-old Grandson likes salmon and was ready to receive his serving of the salmon. I was busy tending to the other younger Grandson so the 11-year-old went alone to the server who was serving the salmon. My 11-year-old came back and told me he only received one small fillet. This was half of the serving than what he was served the last time we were there this summer. I asked the employee who was attending the grill why we were being served only half of what we’d received the last visit. He brushed it off dismissing it as an oversight. It wasn’t until another employee overheard the conversation and walked over and nstructed the employee to serve another fillet. I left feeling that the employee was deceitful. I was of the impression that because my Grandson was a young child that he could get away with serving only half of what he was supposed to serve.

After finishing my salad, I went to receive a portion of a serving of the salmon. Although the salmon on the grill looked very appealing I asked the person attending the grill if it was Silver salmon that was being served. He replied, yes. For those that are not familiar, Silver salmon are less tasteful than Reds and Kings and are much more abundant. I was disappointed to find that the Alaska Salmon Bake has chosen to serve the less flavorful of the three species available presumably to net a bigger profit on a cheaper salmon. Furthermore, when I had my salmon dinner, it was so dry that I had to toss the rest of it.

In summary, I would not recommend the Alaska Salmon Bake given the exorbitant cost for their meals,

Substandard choice for meats served and

The appearance of the lack of integrity by their staff.

The food was mediocre at best, buffet style and all outdoors with bugs and bees flying around and landing on food. They ran out of prime rib so some people didn't even have that option. Would not recommend for the price nor quality.

A total money grab, we wanted to do it for the experience, it was a horrible experience. Prime rib was cold, cod was not fully cooked. Don't waste your money.

Super salty foods, not freshly cooked, seems to be a tourist attraction but not worth the money at all

Great selections of roasted salmon over open fire, cod, and prime rib and salad.

This place was by far the best food in Fairbanks, the dump house or pump house couldn't do anything close to this place. Great job. Not one bone in my 4 pieces of salmon.

Not busy at all but staff would not explain menu changes. Lived here 45 yrs and went often before. Won’t go again. Staff rude. Dessert extra but no one told us. Paid for halibut and received cod. Cod overcooked. Saturday evening and not many people but staff could not make sure we paid for dessert when we ordered our meals. Looked forward to dessert. Won’t go again.

Order a lbs for of crab plus a salad (which sucked). The 1 lbs of crab is actually a 1/2 lbs of crab. Not worth the $60.

Ok so, we had a very nice polite driver that took us from our hotel to the Salmon bake location. Unfortunantly it was all down hill from there. We did not realize that it was an outside venue, that was our bad. The salad bar was infested with flies and there was no one there to try to keep them away. The potatoes and greenbeans, also on the salad bar was pretty much empty and left uncovered and loaded with flies and also unattended by any workers.
The pri.e rib was only luke warm and way over done. The salmon and baked cod were slightly warm and just ok at best. We asked the gal at the bar for a couple straws for our soda and she said I'd have to buy an alcohol drink that came with a straw in order to get a straw and she would not give me 2 straws for me and my wife.
Summary, the food was poor, the salad bar was disgusting with all the flies and I couldn't even get a straw.
Oh did I mention that our driver to and from the hotel was very nice and polite.
Highly do not recommend!!!

Had a great final meal in Fairbanks at this establishment! Staff members were very friendly. Arrived at 5pm on a Tuesday and it wasn’t crowded. Had the $30 salmon plate that came with the salad barn, potatoes, green beans, and rolls and was not disappointed at all. Received a huge pice of fish and had to turn down the second one he was trying to add to my plate. Cashier suggested a spoonful of the sweet marinade be added to the salmon and she was so right! Sat outside under the trees. Really enjoyed this dinner!
