I don't believe we need to ban Thai but we should certainly regulate Thai

The restaurant has a nice asian feel to it and has a good vareity of items to choose from in the menu. They are a bit short staffed and yet the service is fast enough. We ordered their salmon fry and a prawn based curry. The proportions were very generous and food was tasty, although a bit more sweet than actual thai cuisine. But it was still worth it, and will definitely recommend a visit if you are in town and looking for thai food.

Extremely Disappointing Experience, Twice

I rarely write reviews, but this place compelled me to write one because of how shockingly poor the hospitality was.

This was the first restaurant we visited in Fairbanks on the day we landed. We were exhausted and hungry. When we arrived, they told us the restaurant “closes at 4.” We assumed, as most people would, that the kitchen closes at 4. Instead, they served a full order for four people and then five minutes later asked us to pack up all the food and leave because they meant the entire restaurant closes at 4. If we were expected to be out by 4 sharp, why accept and serve an order minutes before? It made no sense and set the tone for what was to come.

Despite this odd start, the food was decent, so we gave them another chance before leaving Fairbanks — and this visit was even worse.

We asked multiple times for condiments. Not only did the staff refuse to refill them, they told us to “finish what’s already in the cups first” before they would even consider bringing more. After that, they avoided eye contact and simply ignored us.

When we left a zero-dollar tip due to the poor service, the server confronted us and asked what went wrong. We calmly explained about the repeated requests for condiments being ignored. His response shocked us — he said he remembered us from the previous visit and then told us:
“Don’t bother to come back.”

When we replied that this isn’t a way to treat customers, he escalated and said:
“I don’t give a _“

To add to all of this, I found it unbelievable that the server behaved as though receiving a tip was his right. Restaurants often display signs saying they have the right to deny service to anyone — similarly, customers have every right to deny a tip when the service is genuinely poor. Tips are earned, not owed.

I have never experienced a restaurant with such blatant disrespect, entitlement, and lack of basic hospitality. There are plenty of warm, welcoming places in Fairbanks — this is absolutely not one of them. Avoid if you expect even minimal courtesy or professionalism.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place earned it. The food might be decent, but the customer experience was honestly shocking. The owner was unbelievably rude — not just having a bad day, but outright dismissive and arrogant. Any time we asked a simple question, the attitude was immediate. It felt like we were inconveniencing them just by being there.

Restaurants survive on hospitality, and this place had none. There are plenty of spots that actually appreciate their customers, so save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere.

We visited Bahn Thai in Fairbanks twice during our trip and had shockingly rude interactions both times.

First visit:
We were told the restaurant closes at 4 PM. We assumed that meant the kitchen closes then but customers may finish eating. We ordered a full meal for four, were served everything, and then immediately told we had only five minutes to finish. They continued taking and serving our order without mentioning this, and then rushed us out, so we had to pack everything to-go.

Second visit:
We returned due to limited dining options, but the treatment was even worse. The woman serving us avoided eye contact, and the man spoke down to us. When we politely asked for a condiment refill, he said we needed to “finish what we had first.” When we responded that this felt disrespectful toward customers, his reply indicated he did not care about our concern.

We left a 0 tip because of the repeated behavior, and were told not to return.

As visitors traveling to Fairbanks, this was extremely disappointing. No customer should feel disrespected or unwelcome, and this was easily the worst dining experience of our trip

The interior is so beautiful, and the owner couple, who are always there, are incredibly kind. The food is always delicious, and even the flowers outside the restaurant are so pretty🌸

This is one of my most frequently visited restaurants in Fairbanks, and it never disappoints! If you love Thai food, I highly recommend this place.

The vegetable soup with a mushroom soy base was packed with delicious vegetables (I also added tofu). The vegetables were not over cooked and the soup was so flavorful! The server informed me that the curry dishes are not vegan or even vegetarian as the chili paste they order from Thailand contains shrimp paste so beware of those items! The atmosphere was comfortable and it’s nicely decorated. It’s also quite a large space. I will return for the soup and possibly the Thai Hed as well 😁.

This was one of my late Son’s favorite Thai spots to eat. He loved the beef fried rice. Full of flavor and always fresh. Easy handicap access room to move, nice quiet for family gatherings and more! Nice wait staff, they are knowledgeable on dishes to try and ideas. Memories to make is the best, with good food and atmosphere!

Great food! We have eaten Chinese or Thai food at quite a few places in Alaska. Most of them have been pretty bad. This one is really good. Good portions and reasonable prices. Many items can be made vegetarian, and many are gluten free.
