We stayed at Borealis Basecamp for 3 nights with no car, so had no choice but to eat at the one on-site restaurant. The breakfast buffet was actually quite good. They had a fantastic omelette bar, and I also enjoyed their yogurt and granola as well. The dinner was ok but small portions for the price. The Alaskan halibut and the pan seared duck breast were both quite good, though not $60 good. Some of our group preferred the burgers on the pub menu, which is served in the lounge...
The food is excellent, but the reason for the 3 stars is it's way overpriced, especially for portion sizes, probably due to trapped audience. I normally only see this at high end Michelin star restaurants, which this is not.
Food is good. Make sure you tell them you are local to get 10% off. Food is bit pricey, but I don't mind paying extra for the chef they have out there. Ambiance is good minus one big factor, which is that it smells of fuel in that yurt due to their Toyo stoves. Gives me a headache many times. Service has been mostly great each time we go with the exception of one server but that's to be expected anywhere.
