I visited Fairbanks around a month ago. This was one of the spots locals recommended I try. It was definitely a dive bar, but super cool bartender, and friendly patrons who frequent it. I had a blast, met cool people and the prices are not too hard on the pocket. I'll be back in Fairbanks, and will visit this bar again.

Wow, went here because it was right across the street from my hotel. It redefines dive bar down. Full of drunk locals and no redeeming qualities. Bartender was nice, that's about the only good thing I could say. Had to leave without finishing my drink when a local was literally having a druken mental breakdown.

Every time i'm up in Fairbanks, I like to visit the Mecca.I always have a rad time.
Photo attached is from the summer of 1982. The place has staying power!! We had a good time there drinking and chatting with the locals. Not necessarily a cheerful place at the time, but had a very strong sense of place and lots of character… and characters!
