Had an amazing king crab dinner. The sides were tasty as well. I just wish we had better service because I would have enjoyed a few more drinks.
I had a chicken Caesar salad and a cocktail. The service was excellent and attentive, the view was peaceful, and the food was really good.
If you get to breakfast later your only option is the breakfast buffet. You'll be charged $23 per person for a very mediocre (at best) buffet. Not worth it. Based on quality and variety of food, we expected to pay $10-$15 each. We were very surprised to get $46 bill for two people who ate small portions... Fool me once!I guess we were paying for the view. Workers were friendly, kudos to them.
This place is way over priced. We had 9 in our party and spent about $60 per plate. Tow of us got the surf and turf meal which is $136 a plate. All crab legs we received we cold. All the Hanger steaks were very cold. Only thing that was some what warm was the bison tomahawk. It also took 1hr 40 min after we ordered to get our food. We complained about all the food being cold and after going back and forth with them all they would do is offer a free dessert. With a mandatory 18% tip and all of our food between us we were just shy of $1000 for this meal. Food sucked, service wasn’t even near an 18% tip. Felt like we really got bent over on this one. And also don’t get the hanger steak. Absolutely disgusting. Would rather eats slugs.
Terrible place. Long story short, our food took about an hour and a half to get to our table and once it finally came it was cold. When we told the waiter the food was cold we were told the only thing they would be able to do is give us a free dessert. Our bill was over $800 and we were charged an automatic 18% which was expected, but with a restaurant this expensive I expected more out of the quality of the food and service. They kept blaming the cold food on being short staffed. I wouldn’t waste your money at this place honestly. Besides the fact that the food was cold, it didn’t really taste great either. Just for reference Texas Roadhouse steak is much better quality/better tasting and Red Lobster crab is much better quality and better tasting as well... this place just isn’t worth your time or money.
Better off else where. Hanger steak was not of quality. And over cooked. Breakfast low quality and cold. Never got quality food. Waiters are very nice and most helpful, give them some ❤ love. The kitchen people may be over worked . So I added a star.
We stayed several days at the resort, so we had several meals there. All of the meals were good. The best was the reindeer pasta we had one night and the combination pizza we had one day at lunch. The service was somewhat spotty, and you can only get a very small glass for water-thus necessitating a constant lookout for you server to get a refill. The management needs to address the server issues-but the kitchen seems quite capable.
There was always a wait for a table. They set the as you walk in. The buffet is ok, but it was the same for the most part every day. The wait staff was very nice and attentive. It would have been nice to see an omelet station or a menu to order from.
We were staying just one night and all of the restaurants in town were closed (Monday) and only two open at the Alyeska hotel so we opted for the Pond. The hostess said it was a 35 minute wait. We said ok and she took our phone number. After 35 minutes we went back, having not heard anything. We went to the same hostess and said we had not been called and she said "Oh, we don't do that now"!!! Really, policy change in half an hour! Anyway she seated us immediately. Waiter service was quite good. Food was quite good.
The servers were so nice and the view was obviously great. However, everything we ordered (with the exception of the pistachio crusted cod, which was phenomenal and worth the trip), was underwhelming. Definitely not bad, but not what was expected. A little seasoning here could go a long way. For the current prices it’s not totally worth it unless you just want to visit this beautiful resort. The service again was great though :)

We stopped at Girdwood on our way back from Seward to Anchorage. It is not far from Alaska 1 and the Speedway Express Convenience Stop. Alyeska Resort and Hotel is surrounded by snow capped mountains and hanging glaciers. We took a leisure walk along the sidewalks and then had lunch at Pond Cafe. We were seated next to the pond with view of the gondola and mountain. The food and service were both good and prices were reasonable.
we ate here twice, the lunch was good quality but the breakfast buffet fell short. The view is great by the windows. This is a convenient place to eat if you are staying at the hotel.
The breakfast buffet was surprisingly our best meal of the day in the area. Plenty of choices so everyone should be able to find something. The food was fresh and warm, the bacon was crispy, the fruit was fresh and the blueberry muffins where great. Over all a great experience for a hotel restaurant.
I'm sorry, the breakfast is terrible, and costs $100 (plus tip!) for four people. It is buffet style. We've had better prepared eggs, pancakes, granola and yogurt at the Hampton Inn -and it was free! There was a sign saying we could order custom omelettes, but the server said the sign was wrong. The orange juice was worse than from can.Look, you are not going to die if you eat the breakfast here, but if you remotely have a choice go somewhere else or get something from the Safeway close by and eat in your room and save $95.The view from the restaurant is lovely, makes up a bit for the poor service.
We needed a late dinner and Pond was still open. We got a table immediately and had a nice attentive waiter. The restaurant is beside the pond, hence its name. I had the salmon with potatoes and vege. The piece of salmon was nice, but the serving of fingerling potatoes and vege (cherry tomatoes) was miniscule. My husband had a salad with king crab. We were still hungry so had the creme brulee which was very good.
