AJ's OldTown Steakhouse & Tavern

My wife and I always choose AJ's to celebrate special occasions (ie our anniversary and birthdays) and yesterday was no exception. The staff was absolutely wonderful, starting with Darrel who greeted and sat us and then food server Kristin (apologies if their names were misspelled). The ambience, food selection, quality and staff are outstanding. We'll continue to be loyal AJ customers.

We had a great experience! Food was phenomenal and service was excellent. We've already recommended it to friends and look forward to our next visit to Homer to come again.

AJ's is one of my most favorite restaurants in Alaska. The steaks and seafood are fresh and so delicious. Thank you for the excellent food and service!

We arrived 25 minutes early and were immediately seated at our table. The wait staff was prompt and constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything. The appetizers came out well before our entrees to allow us enough time to eat them. The first bite of our steak, we knew we had made the right dinner reservation - it was delicious. The steak was cooked to perfection as well as the baked potato and asparagus! We will certainly return to AJ's Steak House when we return to Homer! Thank you for a delicious meal!

All 3 steaks over cooked, took 30 min to get a salad, drink not good, waitress only checked on us after we ate. Will not be back!

We were met at the door like we were long lost friends ! The food was perfectly cooked. We had the prime rib and the filet. Probably one of the best we've had. The server was attentive and anticipated our needs for refills. The ambiance was excellent I highly recommend AJs when you're in Homer, but I would suggest making a reservation.

No service. Took over an hour to get my undercooked steak. Waitress never asked us for a second drink not how our food tasted

Everything was top notch. When we were greeted, taken to our table, our server were all great and very nice. We were just not impressed with the food. Both our filets and chunks of Grisel in them that we could not eat and for that price and cut of meat, we should have been able to eat the whole thing. The mashed potatoes were bland. Had some flavor but not enough. Not rich and creamy. The asparagus was cooked to perfection. Dessert was very good as well. Would I recommend, probably not.

We had the halibut and bacon burger and they were both phenomenal. There was live piano player and it was the perfect setting. This was recommended by friends and it did not disappoint. We will definitely be back.

We had dinner on a Sat night at AJs. It is an older building, but apparently well maintained. We had two salads apps- the cranberry mixed green one was very good- and two filets. The meats was very well seasoned, and cooked to the correct temp. The bill was less than I imagined it would be, which is nice. There was a piano player, but it was nice background music, not too loud. I would highly recommend.

Nice place, nice restaurant, clean and good atmosphere. The owner has been very welcoming as well as the waitress. Meat was excellent , wine choice and sweet as well. I would return and I would recommend. Price was right for what we got.

Made it to Homer for an anniversary trip and quickly sought out AJs for dinner on the strong recommendation of a friend. Excellent- did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the food was out of this world. I had the filet and added scallops and the goat cheese butter topping. Top notch. Would highly recommend- does not disappoint-lives up to its already amazing reputation.

I did not request any particular table for the evening. Gerald had us seated in the back but my wife does not like the back, so Gerald moved us to the front by the windows. Thank you Gerald. He was very gracious. He even had a card signed by the entire staff for our 55th wedding anniversary. As usual the staff did an excellent job and the food was outstanding. Their steaks are really good steaks. All in all, we had a wonderful evening dining out at AJ's. I had three of our grandchildren deliver 55 roses to our table to participate in our celebration.
