This is our go to for dining in Homer and it deserves its top rating. That fact aside every time we order anything with an Asian based sauce or broth we are disappointed. The savory element in these dishes is missing. It’s nothing bonito flakes, dried kelp, mirin, soy, and first class noodles could not remedy. Until then, if you are familiar traditional versions of these Asian dishes, stick to the other choices.
The food was unusual but very good. Everything was very fresh. The stone bowl stayed super hot throughout the meal and it was an adventure to find out what you were going to uncover next. Someone in our party had the fish tacos which they indicated they were the best they've ever had. You will likely need a reservation to get in and it's not on the spit. We thought it was a bit overpriced even by Alaska standards, but it is very good food.
Daily catch was out of this world on presentation, texture, taste. Would have this again every night for the rest of the season. Hands down.Appetizer fish tacos were dry, no sauce, however the fish was so fresh. Our server recommended fried over not. It is 1$ more, which we saw on the check.Stone bowl was hot for 30min! Tuna and prawns were unseasoned. Halibut was cooked so tender. How?!? Egg was over cooked so the yoke was not runny enough to wet the dish. Pork Tonkatsu was delicious....
