Pros: The hotel has a great location. Our room was clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The front desk was great and took care of getting me a reservation for dinner and cab to the airport in the morning. I think the front desk gave my dinner reservation request to the concierge so you can ask the concierge service, that is within the hotel, to help you with dinner and excursion reservations. Cons: The hotel needs to be updated and refreshed. Our room smelled old and definitely needed new carpeting and there looked like some mildew stains on the walls. Wallpaper and laminate is peeling. The towels were the thinnest hotel towels I’ve ever seen. The bathroom mirror was crooked and when I straightened it a large panel in the wall behind it fell out revealing a hole in the wall. There is no heat control in each room. The windows could be opened and there was a fan in the room. But the street noise would be problematic with open windows. My husband heard people outside on the street at 1:30 am with the windows closed. This would be a fantastic hotel if it was updated and especially with individual room temperature control. We noticed that throughout Alaska most hotels are quite pricey and need updating. I would stay here again but it’s not a luxury hotel other than price!

We had one night at the Baranof Downtown in Juneau. The hotel was fine for a short stay and well located in Juneau. Staff was helpful and friendly. The breakfast was tasty. The hotel is in need of upgrading - for example the one tiny elevator groaned loudly when reaching its destination. Juneau is remote and we were fortunate to have solid, historic lodging during high season.

Was not expecting much based on reviews on Trip Advisor. Rooms were small and somewhat outdated but the beds were very comfortable, although really high. Shower pressure was excellent. Breakfast buffet was 21.99 and limited selection. But a simple off the menu was about the same cost. Staff was very nice. Biggest complaint, the housekeeping staff who started very early on our floor, like at 5am, were talking to each other from a distance. If you were hoping to catch a nap or even sleep in, it was challenging. Was in room 309. They do allow storage of a bag until you return which is nice. Located just up the street where there is lots of shops or easy to pick up a bus. Front desk was very helpful when I wanted to print out my boarding pass for airline. Their printer in the main hall was not in service so they printed it at the front desk. I had phone contact a couple of times with the front desk prior to my arrival. I wanted to know if they had a hotel shuttle. They didn't. So I asked about taxi service from the airport. They told me Juneau Taxi was the most reliable. That was very helpful and when I called them at the airport, they were very prompt.

The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff was rather would’ve appreciated a little help with my bags, because when I checked in, they were not at all busy. I would also appreciate the ability to be able to speak with a desk clerk, but since the voicemail box was full I couldn’t. Perhaps someone should be in charge of checking it!

Great walking location for downtown Juneau. Rooms are ok. People are nice . We were in and out in one day. Taxi service was quick (thanks to the peeps at the front desk) There is a Mexican restaurant just a few doors down that was incredible. It was called El Sombrero.

Truly a pleasant stay. Perfect location, across the street is a wonderful distillery, a brewery, and a great Indian Restaurant. Down the street is deck hand Daves. Around the corner from Salt. Great value, loved the charm of this old hotel. Can not say enough about the front desk crew. My room was very clean and comfy, I enjoyed the service and breskfast. We were getting on a small boat and needed advice what to do where to eat and how to get there. We discovered in the lobby a helpful concierge that gave us ideas and directions to wonderful hiking and even the Taku lode for an incredible memory. I can not say enough good things . I love Juneau Alaska.

American Cruise Lines uses this hotel for pre-cruise lodging. We were told there was transportation from the airport, but there was not.I told them several months in advance that I needed an accessible room, but they did not have it. American Cruise Lines got us something that was not optimal, but we survived. The front desk staff was not at all helpful. Deenie Rose, the Assistant General Manager, was the only person to try to help the 170 people on that cruise. American Cruise Lines should find a better option.

Nice facility, but the price is too expensive to provide good value. The location is ok, the facilities are marginal (old). The restaurant food is ok and the portions are pretty healthy. Friendly and helpful staff. Overall, I wasn't impressed b/c of the cost

Staff seems to be bothered when guest asked questions. Room can be clean more often especially when one is staying there for a week. Also left computer charger behind by mistake and hotel staff is unable to locate it

The breakfast buffet was OK they took us in last minute so thank you for that not it did range about 21.95 per person like a regular hotel breakfast.

Bottom line - there is no great hotel in Juneau. Both of the luxury hotels (this and the Four Points) need major renovations to their rooms. We stayed in a “suite” (which was just a really large room).

When I arrived at the Baranof, I waited for about 30 minutes at the front desk before someone came out to check me in. When I was checked into our room 731, the room was in disrepair. There was an immediate odor of mold and vomit, the wallpaper was torn where a wall-mounted light fixture used to be located, with exposed sheetrock and screw holes. The light switch didn't work when you entered the room. The window leaked cold air, as the mini-split air/heater system was rigged to the open slider window using only duct tape and caused a cold draft. The shower door would not close and caused water to pond on the floor, which caused me to slip and bump my head and sprain my ankle when stepping out. To top it all off, the carpet had an awful red puke stain just next to the bed. While the mattress wasn't bad, the other factors were bad enough I would not recommend or actually tell folks to steer clear! I would call this place the "Scare-em-off!" On checkout, the hotel charged my personal credit card, when we specifically requested the corporate card be used with a special form - receipt acknowledged by the general manager - and now I have to wait up to 5 days to get my funds returned back!

I've stayed at the Baranof once a year, for nearly ten years. Since Best Western took over, the property is cleaner, upgrades have been made and the staff was amazing. The rooms were incredibly clean and I felt so comfortable!

For $450 per night I don't expect dirty light switches, mold in the shower and a cracked sink with generally dirty conditions. Breakfast was an extra charge. No water in the room. Breakfast didn't start until 7:00am even though agent suggested it would start at 6:30am.

From the moment I arrived the service was top notch and extremely professional. I felt like I had known the front desk staff forever. The room was really nice. Housekeeping staff were on point. Overall great experience. Bravo!!
