Amalga Distillery is a small, welcoming spot on the outskirts of downtown that offers free tastings, craft cocktails, and grab-and-go cans. The distillery produces a well-liked Juniper Gin that is smooth and crisp, made with local ingredients like rhubarb, spruce tips, and raspberries. Visitors can enjoy a variety of cocktails, including a gin and ginger beer, as well as a zero-proof tomato cocktail option. The canned cocktails are popular for easy, quick refreshment. The tasting room has a clean, modern vibe with comfortable seating and good spaces for people watching. The atmosphere is friendly and inviting, especially when it’s less crowded. However, during heavy cruise ship days, it can become loud and difficult to find a seat, making it less relaxing. Staff are approachable and knowledgeable, guiding guests on what to try. Overall, Amalga Distillery is a great place to relax and enjoy local spirits, especially when visiting on quieter days. It’s a perfect stop for those looking to unwind with tasty, affordable drinks after enjoying local food or just exploring the area.
