I visited here for the first time with a stranger I saw walking on the road and invited along to have lunch with me after church. Ha ha, impromptu picnic.The owner greeted us with smiles and we broke into laughter for a moment while I stumbled my way through my order. We chatted and ate in the sun while sitting at the tables out front. The food and service at Java Flats were all quite wonderful. I'm not certain why people mention the price, when one can go to Mcdonalds and get bad service, cold food, and the wrong order every single time for the same amount of money.

Coffee was good, breakfast sandwich good. Like that they put apple slices in...outdoor space was the only sit down area, but too many flies to enjoy properly. Still, worth the drive from hotel.
Not a bad spot to pick up some food to-go before a fishing trip! We were headed down to Pasagshak to try our luck for some salmon and found this spot along the way. The ordering is done at a drive-thru essentially and was fairly quick and efficient. I ordered a white chocolate and cashew cookie, a mixed berry smoothie and a wet burrito with chile verde sauce. I liked the cookie, although it was not anything special compared to what you might find at a Safeway. The mixed berry smoothie was the highlight. They put in cranberry juice which really brought out the flavor of all the other ingredients. Definitely a hack I am stealing for my smoothies. The wet burrito was OK but had a slightly bitter note to it (probably from the chile verde?) and also was a little bit on the saltier end. I would probably not order that again.Oh yeah, and fueled by the food, we did pretty well on the salmon at Pasagshak!

Keep in mind it's drive through or outdoor seating only.Always heard great things and obviously the reviews share that sentiment. Food was great and faster than i had anticipated. Interesting fog-like drink options. I tried one.Staff is friendly, everything seems clean and organized.If you do decide to stop by, sit, and eat i recommend layers. Thankfully i had planned for the worst so was able to spend a while eating on the porch before any cold set in. Watching the rain with warm food and a hot drink is a must do in Kodiak.
My wife and I found ourselves here in Kodiak and I am limited on time and also resources and I wanted to try some traditional food so I can tell you right now. The salmon smoked salmon is amazing there. I've never had anything like it before & need a place like this where I live in Hawaii and also my second home in Texas. Great ambience quick service friendly help can't beat it.
Delicious! We have had these cookies everyday on our trip. We liked the peanut butter chocolate the best, with the molasses as the second best. We had all the non vegan cookies and they were all good. The tomato soup nice and chunky. The flavor was spot on as well!
It's worth the drive out of the town of Kodiak to grab a lunch from this place! The food is amazing and you'll want to try all the cookies! You won't be disappointed! There is currently no inside eating, drive through only. You can order you food online in advance.

The food is terrific. Drive through only service and the only seating is outdoors on the front covered deck. Generally not a place to go if you are in a rush but definitely worth the wait if you have a few moments to do so. The online pre-ordering is simple and they got our orders right every time. Great selection.
