I recently visited P Bar in Sitka and had a disturbing experience. The staff, specifically someone named Rita, displayed blatant racism. Rita refused to serve us, saying she "doesn't serve our kind." This behavior is unacceptable and reprehensible.

Woman at the bar was very short with us, politely asked about her tattoos thinking they may have been native inspired and she simply referred to me and my friend as a couple of drunks which was really irritating as I was, genuinely, attempting to make polite conversation having only had about two small drinks and meant to get home and to sleep for classes the next day and would not in any way consider myself ‘drunk’ after that… very prudish and almost snarky in my opinion but I know how the nights go, hopefully she has a better day. Unlikely to return. Thank you for the mimosa though.
If you are in Sitka, you have to stop by here for drinks.

A true authentic local bar hiding from the tourist! Thanks to one of the park rangers that we met on our explorations and having good conversation recommended coming here as we didn't want to follow the herd. And so glad we did. The history and the photos on the walls of this place says a lot of the people and fishermen of this town. And the bartender who will be unnamed...?? She is the favorite bartender by all and I can definitely see why! Loved her feistiness!! If you can manage to step out of your norm and enjoy the true people of this town, stop!
