The Red Onion Saloon in Skagway is a fun and historic spot to visit, especially if you're stopping in town from a cruise.
Dating back to 1897, it’s packed with character and charm, and the history of the place really adds to the experience. We came in for the reindeer farts (yes, that’s a shot!) and to soak up the fascinating backstory.
There's even a brothel museum you can tour for for a small fee if you're looking to dive deeper into its colorful past. A unique stop that’s worth checking out for the drinks and the history!

If you’re in Skagway, a stop at the Red Onion Saloon is an absolute must! From the moment you walk in, you feel the charm of the place, dating back to the Gold Rush days. The décor is like stepping back in time, with the bar looking like it’s straight out of an old Western movie.
Don’t miss the upstairs tour—it’s quirky, fun, and packed with fascinating tidbits about the saloon’s colourful past. The guides (called "prostitorians") make it both informative and entertaining, perfect for anyone who loves a good story.

We come to the Red Onion at least once a month. Scarlett and Lily are the best servers here, hands down. However, there are two ladies here that are lacking customer service skills (an older lady and one who looks in her 20s). Waiters should always ask (and be aware) if there's anything else the customers need. They should also be willing to bid their customers goodbye instead of ignoring them on their way out. On a more positive note, the chowder and chili are some of the best items on the menu.

The food was good although the menu was a bit limited. The walking tour, however, was PHENOMENAL!
The Tour guide "Madame Georgia Peach" was so entertaining and provided so much information. She was excellent.
Definitely the best Bang for your Buck.

Took the walking tour as guided by Ms. Shirley (not her real name). And she was great. Highly recommend the tour, the establishment, and Shirley.

The Ghosts and Goodtime Girls Walking Tour. Madame Tilly did a wonderful job showing us around Skagway. Well worth the money, a great adventure.

We did this tour on our Port stop in Skagway. It was a really fun tour and the Ladies that lead it are very entertaining. A really great insight into the history of Skagway and how hard times would have been.
The saloon was very busy so we didn't stop to eat after the tour

Ended up doing the museum tour. Did not eat there.
The guide is full of punny jokes and had my friend laughing so hard.
It's a short tour that is very entertaining and full of history.
We arrived by cruise ship so not sure on the status of parking. Most people there are from the ships so everyone is mostly walking.

this review is about the ghost tour that is run by the Red Onion
we took the good time girls ghost tour mid - september and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Madame Purity ran out tour and she was dressed in period costume. she walked us through the streets of Skagway and regaled us with tales of the town and the Women who engaged in "negotiable Love"
she dislplayed her shimmy technique and taught it to us so that we could safely traverse the streets of Skagway.
we learned a lot about what the women (sometimes Girls :( )went through in the mining town of Skagway.
there was humor but M. Purity still took a moment to go over some of the harsher - uglier - truths of life for the good time girls of the town.
the tour ended with a run through the upstairs of the Red Onion Saloon where we got to see what it must have been like to work there.
we would take the tour again, and so should you, if you are ever in Skagway

It is always crowded, you need to wait 20 minutes. Food is good. Show is unique. I think is good if you are going in group.
