Looks like the staff didn't show. We waited for 10 minutes but it was obvious the two people who showed up were under water and not coming up any time soon. Shame. Would like to have tried the place.
Had dinner here twice while staying in Valdez. First time didn’t have to wait for table, second time was told 30 minute wait but was actually only 10 minutes. I had the Halibut Basket and it was delicious but too much to eat, lol! A Sundae topped off our meal. Good experience here!
We ate at The Fat Mermaid while staying next door at Bear Paw RV Park. Overall, the food was great—fresh rockfish tacos, a tasty sandwich on a homemade bun, and hearty chowder. The real standout was the service—our server, Ann, was exceptional and made the experience even better. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in Valdez.
