A group of friends and I gathered here for dinner after not seeing each other for 2 years. Time got away from us, and before we knew it we were there significantly beyond closing time. The staff left us to enjoy each other. They didn’t even mention that they were closing or that we should place our orders sooner. This type of service does not go unnoticed. Aside from that, the food was great as well.

Everything was great.Only thing it was very dark.We had to use our light from iPhone to read the menu

Went to Amore tonight for our anniversary dinner. Our waiter, Robert, was outstanding explaining the specials of the day and suggesting a great wine which really complimented our dinner of shrimp and lobster linguine which was cooked to perfection. Our dessert of crème brûlée was spectacular! The best meal we have had in a while and I highly recommend Amore for a truly enjoyable experience.

We got off to poor start when our table was not available at the time of the reservation. Inasmuch as Open Table had reached out to reconfirm and I responded, I think Open Table shares some responsibility for this failing. The hostess was embarrassed and apologetic, but we had to wait for the table to be vacated by the previous patron. The manager also apologized. No amends were made or offered for the inconvenience Beyond that, the food was nothing special, which was disappointing for a relatively expensive restaurant. To sum up: 1. There are a number of restaurants in the Birmingham area that offer better food and value, so there is no reason for me to return to Amore. 2. Although no one was rude or unpleasant, I was left with the impression that no one involved with Amore really cares one way or the other that I won't be returning. 3. With respect to the reservation screw-up, I will be reluctant to patronize restaurants participating in Open Table

Made a reservation but decided to sit at the bar when we saw the bartender. She had helped us before and was fabulous. Another wonderful meal with great service. Amore is fantastic!!! We will always come back!

So dark when we arrived that I could not see chairs against the wall at our table. Seemed to have increased light when we left. Food and service were good but I was so uncomfortable because of lack of light, I could not enjoy. Too much pasta with my crabcake. Would rather have had option of a vegetable.

Food was fantastic. Lots of options. Waiter and servers completely attentive. First time, that will definitely go back.

This was our 2nd visit to Amore in the last 6 weeks. It was excellent both times. The service is the best we've ever had in a fine restaurant. The atmosphere was great as was the food and background music.

We always love Amore! As usual the food was beyond excellent and the service was second to none.

Food was excellent-it always is. Romantic ambience. Service impeccable. Noise level was quiet enough for easy conversation. Music unobtrusive. Highly recommend.

We were just in town for a few days. We love good Italian food and are spoiled in St. Louis with “The Hill” and our Italian population. I searched on line for “best Italian” in the area. I am learning not to believe all of the raving reviews. Amore was rated 5 stars by tons of people. From the “stunning ambiance” to the “intimate and romantic “. This is not 5 star dining on any level. I feel sad for people if this is the best dining experience they've ever had. The waiting area is a hodgepodge of thrift store mismatched seating. The ceiling is office tile and metal grid. The floor is fake plastic wood so slick I was afraid of falling. The waitress was pleasant. After our drink order she came to table with her pad and pencil at the ready as if we were at Denny's and said “ Are you ready to order?”. We said “ No specials?”. She then rattled off 3. A soup an app and snapper that was the same as on the menu but with the addition of one shrimp and mashed potatoes. I went with the vodka pasta with sausage and she suggested linguine instead of rigatoni. Of course it came with the rigatoni anyway. My husband ordered veal parm. It looked nothing like the pics we saw on line. Paper thin smothered in mozzarella with barely any sauce and swimming in oil. The rolls were hot and tasty. The salad okay. My pasta was decent. I make at home with Rao's and it tastes the same. People were dressed in shorts and tee shirts. This is a neighborhood joint at best. Not a 5 star dining experience. Someone had to be honest on here.

1st time last night for anniversary. Employees were all very kind and attentive. Food was delicious and you can tell made with care. Wedding soup was delicious. Veal melt in mouth tender. What I would call an old school Italian restaurant. Great food and service. Romantic decor with a Sinatra portrait above the bar and music quietly in playing in background. Best Italian food I've found in bham area.

Paul has been our server a couple of times. Not impressed at all and have requested to not sit in his section again. He forgot to put in things that we ordered, did not apologize, didn't try to make it right. Seemed put out and in a hurry. This has been our experience each time we have had him as our waiter.

My husband and I chose to celebrate our anniversary at Amore. We have been there several times for special occasions in the past and have always had excellent food and service. However, last night was not the case. I made our reservation weeks ago for the “wine bar.” I meant to say wine room. However, I didn't word it correctly. I always make our reservation for the wine room because it is much quieter than the rest of the restaurant. My husband has a difficult time hearing in other parts of the restaurant because it is so loud. We were seated in the bar area instead. I take partial blame for that. However our waiter, Paul, seemed disinterested in serving us. He asked if we were celebrating anything and when we told him our anniversary, he said join the club. He had three other tables celebrating their anniversary. We waited to order food which seemed to irritate him. Once we ordered, I asked if we could swap my husband's salad for something else since he doesn't eat salad. He offered the wedding soup and also mentioned other types of salad. So my husband ordered the soup, and I ordered a ceaser salad instead of the house salad. Once our food was served, he didn't check on us until we were close to being done. I was never asked if I wanted another cocktail. I had to ask for the cocktail menu and by the time he came to get my order, we were done with dinner. He did bring an “anniversary” dessert. But, when he brought the check we were charged an up-charge of 9.00 for the soup and 9.00 for the ceaser salad which he never mentioned when we asked if we could substitute. Between his inattentiveness and the up charges not told about, it was a disappointing evening. I forgot to mention when my husband asked about the filet, he was told they sold out the night before. I ordered the chicken piccata and was disappointed. It was missing the usual caper/lemon flavor. It was just blah. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan which was good. Maybe our expectations were too high.

Excellent food and service . I now know why the reviews are so highly rated . I had shrimp with Gorgonzola , sun dried tomatoes and white wine sauce , with pasta . My husband had lasagne . Fresh warm bread rolls and a house salad with an amazing dressing were included . For dessert I had the crème brulee with fresh berries , and he had cheesecake . Both were delicious . Our server/waiter was Steve - polished , friendly and informative and really added a big plus to our dinner experience . Will definitely be going back to be pampered . Thank you Amore for a wonderful evening .
